Ah, I see the backlash has already begun. I don't think they will muck up continuity too much, and I doubt the Superman Wonder Woman thing will happen. The pairing is, was, and always been too obvious. I would be fine if they went out a couple of times and discovered that their personalities don't match up. I'm sure things will be fine.
Superman
Character » Superman appears in 18942 issues.
Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland as Clark Kent. Using his immense solar-fueled powers, he became Superman to defend mankind against all manner of threats while championing truth, justice, and the American way!
Off My Mind: DC Universe Reboot: Should Superman Hook Up with Wonder Woman?
First let me just state this, I don't support WW/SM pairing. Just cause it worked in Kingdom Come doesn't mean it should be at the mainline. Nor do I like Clark/Lois all that much. Cause in all honesty that relationship was only good before they hooked up and when they did, it was boresville completely afterwards. Writers have failed for the most part to keep my interest in it.
I rather see them bring back Maxima as a love interest for him, have him date other women, or bring in an entirely new character.
Forget "decades" of history, since DC is just throwing away 75 years of it.
If it's what the "New Generation of Fans" want to see, then I guess DC will just give it to them, since they won't care about history nor about continuity.
Given how much Clark and Lois are in love with one another and how long and loud that has been established by DC. I doubt they would completely abandon that relationship. Previously I thought the only was Superman and Wonder Woman would connect would be if someone like Maxwell Lord or someone with telepathic powers messed with their heads.
Though one thing I will say is it has previously been established that Superman's legacy will be carried on be his descendants. It has also been established that humans and kryptonians and not able to produce offspring. Magic has always been an obstacle to kryptonians but in this case could the magical nature of Diana's power allow her to have children with Clark? Just a thought.
I've always wondered why Clark and Diana weren't the ones together instead of Clark and Lois. I really began to wonder this after I read Kingdom Come. Don't get me wrong I like Lois but to me Clark and Diana have more in common and they understand each other alot better than Clark and Lois could. Clark and Diana connect on the level of what they go through and knowing as a superhero what another superhero needs.
Could you imagine Clark and Diana's kid?
@Redfield: Then maybe Bruce should date someone human or Zatanna, cause I don't see how him dating Diana would humanize him.
IF they are going to do this they should make some kind of reference to Mallrats where Brody says (not exact quote) "Superman can't be with Lois, his sperm would blow the back of her head off".
That would put an interesting spin on the DC Trinity dynamic - if they're going to maintain that, even after the reboot. Batman and Wonder Woman have been linked as an item...
I'm starting to get really mad about this whole mess. Again, I'm not whole-heartedly opposed to a reboot of some kind, but I find it more than a little insulting the way DC is doing it...
I think I feel a ranting blog post coming on...
for all of those saying Batman and Wonder Woman, wouldn't they have the same problem as Lois and Superman? i mean Wonder woman would break Bruce in half when it's time for sweet sweet lovin'
I might be the only person who doesn't care if Spider-man is married or not. They traded an Mary Jane for an old lady. It would have been more interesting to see what happens when a hero's I.D. gets out in the public and someone close gets killed like Aunt May. I can care even less about lois and if her and Superman are gonna be together or not. I don't read the books to see Lois, I read them to see the hero's. I understand it makes them more human and easier to relate to, but no matter how hard you try, you just can't relate to a man from another planet who can fly and stop bullets with his chest. Just give me good stories.
I think it might be good. And this is reminding me of scene in, I wanna say Mallrats, were they were talking about how only Wonder Woman could survive having sex with Superman. If that isn't the movie let me know because that has been bugging me.
It's Lois and Clark as far as I'm concerned. That said it might be fun to have a love triangle for a bit, if handled correctly. But in the end he needs to end up with Lois, because while Superman and Wonder Woman seems logical, I don't think it would actually be that interesting. Now Wonder Woman and Batman, that's another story.
The thing that makes Superman and Wonder Woman so great is that they are aliens who are way powerful than the average human, but there relationships with human beings has defined them. This reboot is going to show a very alien Superman and a very alien Wonder Woman, what if they come together on the basis that there are truly nobody on this earth that can relate to us because we are so powerful.........now imagine they dwell on the "there is nobody on this earth stronger than us" you basically got General Zod and Ursa, and the main thing is what happens to Lois Lane.
Not a bad idea , I like the couple of Superman with Wonder Woman , but I also like Superman and Lois . Sincerely Batman and Wonder Woman do not convince me much but not bad either.
DC stop it right now - stop messing with characters I love. Go mess up Green Lantern or Doom Patrol!
I consider Kingdom Come to be the canon future of the DC universe so you can say lois is his true love now but Diana is the one he'll marry and have a child with when he's older and lois is dead.
Also I have my own theory on this rebooted superman, I dont think its Clark... I think its Conner.
rrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTHOSE UNBELIEVABLE, INCONSIDERATE HEATHENS!!!!! WHY??!!?!?!?!?!?!? FOR THE LOVE OF KIRBY, WHY WHY WHY!!!?!?!!?!??!?!!?
Yeah, Batman and Wonder Woman is more popular, but I'd guess they would try to pair off Sups and WW to try and increase both of their characters popularity. But I don't think it is going to work, especially for WW. I can't see how she doesn't just get used in this scenario by making Superman look like the "greatest guy" and then forgotten about once Lois arrives on the scene.
I mean if they are together then her development will always become second to his, that is just how things are, and I find them to be way too similar to be an interesting couple. Seeing them date would be like seeing Mr. and Mrs. Cleaver date.
And the whole argument that Superman is too strong to hold hands with Lois seems a little far out there. I mean if that is true then he wouldn't be able to open doors without breaking them, hold a pencil, type on a computer, or even tie his shoes. Sometimes it is just better to just overlook some things in comics.
another reboot? it wasnt THAT long ago since infinite crisis. couldn't they do an alternate reality or something
LOL i rember that guy
Brodie Bruce would be so proud of this nod to comic book logic and common(comic) sense.
Still prefer Maxima though.
