@Onemoreposter: Bad is an understatement mate, it was horrendous. I loved the visual style of the film but I'm glad that Snyder has stuck exclusively to directing Man of Steel and left the writing to David S Goyer.
Superman
Character » Superman appears in 18942 issues.
Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland as Clark Kent. Using his immense solar-fueled powers, he became Superman to defend mankind against all manner of threats while championing truth, justice, and the American way!
Jim Lee and Scott Snyder to launch Man Of Steel in 2013?
@Onemoreposter: Hell yes. 300 was a brilliant adaptation, and those fight scenes were astounding. Half the reason the movie was excellent (in my opinion) was due to the visuals. Snyder gets it 100%, and it showed. Great movie. Watchmen was so under-appreciated. It's extremely difficult to capture what Gibbons had drawn in the original book, but Snyder pulled it off. He was also not afraid to put it all out there. He could've censored Dr. Manhattan, but he made the choice to have him naked as he was, and that's damn commendable. I think Watchmen will be looked at as a great movie in those regards in time. For a while, Snyder was my top pick for a Daredevil reboot given his passion for glorious fight scenes and DD's radar sense would be interesting to look at through his eyes. Now that he's directing Superman, I couldn't be more relieved. That movie is going to be gorgeous, Superman will actually fight something, and all will be well. I really can't wait to see it.
@Deranged Midget: I'll agree with that. The reason Sucker Punch was what it was is because he was given complete control over absolutely everything. Snyder's at his absolute best when he has a source material to work from (300, Watchmen, etc.)

@Gambit1024: @Onemoreposter: i am skeptical till the premier. superman has the worst track record in movies and there have been plenty of great (not good like snyder) directors that have messed up in the past. if its good i will give it its dues if not.... bye bye any attempt for 5 years at bringing superman on the big screen.
I wouldn't say Superman has the worst track record, but it certainly isn't great. The reason those great directors failed is because of a bunch of different reasons. Ang Lee's Hulk was awful because a) he didn't use the Hulk the way he should have, b) he didn't understand the character at all, c) he tried to bring something to the table that was never there to begin with and should not have been, and I could go on and on. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 failed for the audience because Sony didn't let him do what he wanted. Mark Steven Johnson's Ghost Rider failed because of Nic Cage and the lack of compelling villains, etc. etc. Bottom line, they either didn't know what they were doing, had too much say, or had too little. Snyder, with Nolan holding his hand, will not fail in this regard. He has the source material, he's working with the right people, and this is an area that he's an expert in. You have nothing to worry about sir. Nothing at all.
@Gambit1024: I couldn't agree more. While Sucker Punch was an incredible visual achievement, his best work has been adapting from source material. Watchmen and 300 were brilliant re-imaginings visually and from a writing stand-point (even if the source material wasn't altered that much at all).
Superman is in brilliant hands. I have no problem seeing Snyder dig into the most brilliantly choreographed action scenes in the super-hero genre yet and he's also capable of fleshing out fantastic character interaction and an emotional element. Add on to the fact that Nolan is attached as Executive Producer and that David S. Goyer is writing the script AND Hanz Zimmer is composing the soundtrack, there's little room for failure left in this film.
@Gambit1024: .....I liked Ang Hulk.....
I mean, I get it wasn't a great movie, but I just don't understand all the hate. In fact, compared to the vast majority of comic book films, seems to me it was pretty decent. Just off the top of my head it was better than: Superman 3 & 4, Ghost Rider 1 & 2, Daredevil, Electra, Spiderman 3, Batman Forever/and Robin....I could go on. I know simply being better than bad movie doesn't make a movie "good" but overall, in spite of some mutant dogs, I thought it was a strong film.
I know I'm not going to change anybodies mind about this one, but those are my two cents.
@Onemoreposter: Well a lot of movies are better than the ones you mentioned :P
Thing is, it wasn't a bad movie (not great either, mind you), but it was an awful Hulk movie, if that makes sense. It was incredibly slow-paced, it was too artsy for my taste, and I found the villain more of an annoyance than a threat. With a character like the Hulk, you don't want slow and artsy. You want fast and action. By no means was The Incredible Hulk the best movie ever, but that adaption at least got it right.

In most regards yes, but as a dedication to the character? Not so much. He was too weak.

Yessir.
Besides, Hulk (if we're counting continuity), was strong enough to fight and pretty much stalemate Thor in the Avengers.
Didn't Hulk threated Thor like a rag doll.@SandMan_ said:

No, that was Loki. Hulk sucker punched Thor, though.

The Avengers representation was far better. At least he could jump... :P
@Deranged Midget: He jumped a few times in TIH... At the very end after he screamed and ran off. He jumped like twice... I think...

He did some serious jumping in the Ang Lee one......

Yes he did, but I'm just saying it wasn't as well represented as it was in Avengers. But I did like the physical look of TIH the best and while Mark Ruffalo did a fantastic job, I would've loved to see Edward Norton return.
@Onemoreposter: Yes he did, I was just referring to The Incredible Hulk though.
@SandMan_: As in, Jim Lee leaving Justice League so Ivan Reis will take over Justice League. Geoff Johns also leaving Aquaman to write JLA.
So someone has gotta take over Geoff and Ivan, Its the ripple effect. LOL.

I can deal with Ivan Reis taking over for Jim Lee, he's a brilliant artist, but it ticks me off that both Johns and Reis are leaving Aquaman.

@Deranged Midget: A Vertigo writer for Aquaman?
Don't know, not particularly knowledgable with most Vertigo writers.

Does he have time? He's a brilliant writer.
@Deranged Midget: I know you were. I was just using the opportunity to point out a superiority in Hulk over Incredible.
@Onemoreposter: For the majority, yes, Ang Lee's Hulk was far more representable of the comic counter-part.
Definite day 1 purchase for me if this turns out to be true, Snyder has delivered some of the most compelling Batman stories i have ever read and if he is planning on doing the same for Superman this would be incredible! Jim Lee and Scott Snyder sounds like a match made in heaven, get it done DC!
