In Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, Superman defeats Kryptonite Man(even though he was standing mere inches away from Clark).
Someone want to explain to me how this is possible?
Character » Superman appears in 18886 issues.

Kryptonite only works when the it is deemed necessary to the plot that it works. Otherwise it has no affect on him, or somehow his body can fight it off by producing extreme amounts of PIS, CIS, and in some cases, extremely potent WIS pheromones that overpower whoever is creating that particular story arc.
Thanks for reading,
Floopay
I explain it as a machismo thing: In a Superman/Batman story, Superman's being portrayed alongside the God of All That Is Especially With Prep. Better known as Batman. He doesn't want to get shown up, since he's freaking Superman. He can't afford to show weakness because Batman will never let him live it down. From that day forward, whenever Clark senses the white slits of Batman's eyes upon him, he'll know Batman is remembering that moment. That moment Clark lost. When the Bat proved his superiority over the Super.
So Superman drew upon the great power of machismo testosterone, and fought through it to stand alongside Batman, even managing to beat Kryptonite.*
*I've never read the story in question.

@Floopay: What is WIS?
Writer induced stupidity.
A simple answer is kryptonite's will always weaken Clark but it's effect fluctuates depending on the writers need. It's a plot device to prevent Superman from auto-winning against certain enemies.

He and steel teamed up and supes was wearing a radiation suit

This looks good.
In Superman Returns he lifted a continent with chunks of Kryptonite raining down around him.
In Smallville, being near the littlest fragment basically turns him into Stephen Hawking.
@xxxddd: Now show the rest of that fight, where Supes overcomes he weakness and defeats Kryptonite Bat with his speed.
Kryptonite is generally portrayed to make Supes feel ill, and gradually weaken, its only rarely portrayed as a "Superman Power Off Switch". Typically the only time its even hinted to be that potent is when Batman really is around.
In New 52, he is fighting a Kryptonite Man whose strength is already on par with Supermans, and the Kryptonite energy that spills out of him in ridiculous amounts. Supes actually goes toe to toe with him for a short while, but it catches up with him. John Irons jumps in and brawls with Kryptonite Man (K Man is his physical superior), and Supes recharges after a few seconds and puts on a Hazmat suit, and charges KMan. His Hazmat suiz ofcourse gets torn, but he still puts K Man down. Right now, its pretty inconclusive on how bad Knite affects Supes in the New 52

Since you seem to know Supes do you think he'll get his suit back or well he let little weak Connor keep it?
@xxxddd: Well let's see, he beat SS, Thor, Hulk, and even a Watcher i believe. Absorbed the Power Cosmic, rode SS's board, and i think he even lifted Mjolnir. Now even though all this seems like BS (and it is), i personally thought it was at least cool to look at. So screw what everybody else says, i liked red hulk when he was fueled by Loeb force.
@Soothing_Sounds: I don't believe any of that. Not that I'm trying to insult you, but that sounds ridiculous, even for comicbooks.

This is exactly my point.
Superman shouldn't be completely immune to kryptonite that's mere inches from him.

I think he will get it back once Connor heals up. Iirc he is wearing his suit on the cover of superman 17

That part of Superman Returns bugged the crap out of me. He lifts a freaking island of Kryptonite but gets stomped in a fist fight with Lex Luthor's little shard of Kryptonite

I honestly think they should get rid of Knite altogether. Its a crutch from bad writers, it keeps lazy writers from having to come up with new, interesting, and legitimate villains.
They can keep KMan, since he's cool in the reboot, and Ive always loved Metallo, ever since TAS. Like I said in another thread, since KMan hungers for Kryptonite in the new U, they could even do an event where Metallo's heart is that last Knite on Earth and KMan, Metallo, and Superman all find themselves in a war for the KNite Heart.

After supes give Connor the suit, he'l takes over the fortress and kicks them out, so they go meet up with lex Luther in prison to see if he knows anything. He says for he'l to get enough power to travel back in time he'd have to blow up the galaxy. So superman calls in the justice league and next week in Superboy 16 there gonna try to take back the fortress
@AllStarSuperman: Whats gonna happen in the next Superman issue? And so i should get the new Superboy issue to see the Justice League take on H'el??

Superman turns into a genius, man, you'd think he'd want to be around Kryptonite more often. He would have killer prep feats. ;)

He beat Kryptonite Man wearing a radiation suit to protect him!
but until now Superman has shown great resistance to Kryptonite poisoning in the new 52 he beat kryptonite man he fought the evolver while poisoned!
I think the writers finally picked up how ridiculous Kryptonite was at this point!
He's actually Metallo.
