1. CR was better at playing the hero.
2. GR's Clark was cooler.
3. CR's looks less home-made.
4. Stalemate due to how Superman was in both time periods.

  • I think George Reeves' Superman was always the better hero.
  • George Reeves' Clark Kent was pretty awesome
  • Christopher Reeve's suit was better
  • Both accurately represented the characters at the time in which they played them. Though GR's Clark Kent was ahead of his time because Clark of the comics wouldn't become like that until the late 1980's.

1. Who played the better Superman? Christopher Reeve. Reeves is awesome but Reeve is Iconic.

2. Who played the better Clark Kent? Reeve. The polarized versions of his characters is a more believable route in making people not think Clark is Supes. One's a dork, the other's an epic superhero. Nuff said.

3. Which had the better suit? George Reeves. He looks more buff I think. But maybe cause of the padding?

4. Which was closer to the Comic-Book version? Chris by a slight margin. But while George portrayed Superman almost exactly how the comicbook counterpart was during his era, Christopher Reeve had a portrayal that not only reflected the comicbook image, the comics had to adjust to the Reeve Superman. Reeve became the definitive Superman of all mediums.... Until last month's revamp, that is... :D

@ssejllenrad: You really think this clown can become the new definitive Superman for the revamp?

@comicdude23: Not really. What I'm saying is that Morrison's Supes is no longer Chris Reeve-esque.

This ^^^^ except that I like to reverse 1 and 2 I liked CR's portrayal of Clark as vulnerable and 'uncool', and GR's hero as unflappable.

This is my opinion.

  • I thought CR played the better Superman. GR played a very good Superman, but he needed a bit more character, CR gave it more heart and feel. GR was good but maybe a bit one-dimensional, CR was very versatile with his Superman.
  • GR played the better Clark thinking about this now. CR made a dorky-goofy Clark, a bit too stereotypical. He put heart into it but wasn't versatile with it. GR was less obvious and normal, keeping away that he isn't Superman.
  • They look similar but I think CR had the better suit. It looked more refined and neater.
  • I think this is even. CR played a good early GA Superman and was quite accurate. Whilst CR portrayed a good down-to-earth SA Superman.

1. Depends on your taste. I think George did a good job in playing the Golden Age Superman, where Chris was decidedly more like the Silver/Bronze Age Superman.

2. George Reeves was the better Clark. Never really cared for the goofy/inept Clark Reeve and Donner came up with.

3. Chris. George just had to work with what was given to him. Chris' suit is much more defined, and rightfully so. It's a big budget action movie suit vs. a suit made for television episodes.

4. Both versions were pretty true for their time periods. George Reeves Superman was more set in the Golden Age, and didn't go into the Silver Age mythology, where Chris Reeve's Superman was more defined because of that Silver Age continuity like his backstory in Smallville, and the Fortress of Solitude.

That's a trick question! Gary Frank Superman is Reeve... Curt Swan Superman is Reeves... Did I get it?

Christopher Reeve is better on all counts except Clark Kent. George Reeves was a better Clark.
