So, the answer is quite simple. Yes, he died!

Sure, his return depended on more than one factor, but still he died during his fight with Doomsday.

The first factor was already shown, in the picture above, when Jonathan Kent had the heart attack and his spirit was able to reach Kal spirit and help him return to his body.

But ultimately it was thanks to the Eradicator he was able to come back to life.

But don't take my word for it. Here's some show and tell:

Hope this puts a end to any debate.

    He died, period!

Nope, on the contrary he would have died if he got no help. He was dying but not dead yet. He just wasn't soaking enough energy to get back to life, it was only slowing his death. Superman never died.

Comprehension is a trick thing sometimes.

"Comprehension is a trick thing sometimes."

More like. People are so obsessed with the idea that Superman can't die (even though he died plenty of times) that they'll come up with any excuse to deny the truth.

I'd understand that if the only medical opinion was that of humans. For a human he might look dead and not be dead. But he was dead. There's no way both the Eradicator and the Fortress robots would not have detected any biological activity. But they didn't. Not until the Eradicator with the aid of the Regeneration Matrix restarted Superman body.

I mean. Even Rebirth Superman when speaking with Lois about his death at the hands of Doomsday, he himself confirmed. He was dead. Superman himself tells fans he was dead, and some fans are like "No! You're wrong Superman. We know better than you."... :P

This healing coma myth is getting freaking stupid. He died. It was mentioned multiple times. Deadman even saw his spirit leave his body. Case closed.
