The Superman comics have been giving us mixed pleasure. ACTION COMICS has been great at giving us an early look at the Man of Steel in his early days and we've been gobbling up all the new details coming out of the title. SUPERMAN takes place in current time and you get the feeling that something is about to happen. It's just taking a little longer for us to get the big time action.

Today, DC Comics has revealed the covers to the eighth issue of both titles and it looks like Superman is going to have his hands full dealing with some extraterrestrial threats. Both issues will be on sale in April.

In ACTION COMICS #8, Superman continues to fight to save the captured city of Metropolis.

SUPERMAN #8 is the second part of a new arc from the new creative team and features Helspont and the Daemonites.

Looks like we can expect some super-action in April.

I'm not really loving Brainiacs redesign tbh

While centipede Brainiac seems interestingn I throw a shrug at the Wildstorm stuff.

Wow, so Clark finally finds his suit now in Action Comics? And why does that cover remind me of the Brainiac storyline all too well? And the Superman cover makes me think Starro, I don't really know why...

I like both of them. I'm debating whether or not I should stick it out on Superman since the new creative team is coming soon.

I am guessing he found his current costume in Brainiac's ship. So yes, it seems we are.

I don't think Majestic will be appearing in the new DCnU because I believe Majestic and classic Superman fused to be the 52 Superman I've said before the new 52 Superman has a few traits like Majestic now compared to his classic counterpart.

I really wanted to drop Superman, but the Daemonite menace in the DCNu is rather exciting. I might need to stick around for the new creative team.

Is the Action cover looking messed up for anyone else, or is it just me?

Loving the Helspont/Supes artwork.

I would really love to see comics start to age Superheroes and make them get to old to carry on the name. I would love to see Superman and Batman with a streak of gray in their hair.

well have fun waiting for this. its not gonna happen anytime soon :( part of the reboot was they wanted all their characters to be younger and fresher, so boths supes and batty are both younger than they were

Rather than have the Daemonite invasion be a big event, have one book tell the main story and have a bunch of books tie into it. They have one book bring up the idea of a Daemonite invasion (Grifter) and then those who are writing other books can choose to use the same idea for their book or not. It ties the whole universe together better than an event.  An event just feels like a way to cop out money cause it's all advertised as "World changing" or "The universe will never be the same" and by the end you get a character death and no real big difference. This is more subtle and interesting.
 
They're doing the same thing with the Dark books. Both Swamp Thing and Animal Man deal with The Rot. It's kinda like one writer who is stuck with nothing to write about can call up another writer and say "Hey man whatcha writing in your book?.......A Daemonite invasion?...... Sweet.....I'll tie my book into that as well." 
 
Good job DC, you have found a way to tie the universe together without using a money grabbing event.

helspont, huh? I guess cancelling wildstorm, is just another way of moving in to the DC Universe.
