When it comes to canon stories, who had the best run on superman comics?
Superman
Character » Superman appears in 18942 issues.
Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland as Clark Kent. Using his immense solar-fueled powers, he became Superman to defend mankind against all manner of threats while championing truth, justice, and the American way!
Best superman writer?
Grant Morrison and Mark Waid.
yup. this exactly. hopefully they write him again.

@2cool4fun: Geoff Johns run is pretty good for what I have read.
Superman Brainiac is one of my favorites
Secret Origin has the definitive look for Supes, IMO
Superman and the Legion of Superheroes is also a good read.
@sog7dc: Joe Kelly for sure, i was a fan Geoff John's run as well and please don't curse me(im already doing that to myself) but i just read up up and away! today and oh my God!!! how could i have gone so long without reading that...i feel so ashamed.

i havent read it either. im currently collecting dan jurgens Superman run, which is 150 issues...so yeah lol. and i have John Byrne's and im just reading through it now.
@ultimatesmfan: It was a joint effort with Kurt Busiek so I suppose Busiek should get half the acclaim technically but still it's clear where Johns' influence comes in and how well he understands and writes Superman.
Grant Morrison
All Star Superman is my ideal take on the character, so I'll go with Grant Morrison.
