War of the Supermen #4 Review
Okay, I'm not going to mince words.
The Good
Well, the action's still fast-paced, but it feels sluggish, worn out from its adrenaline rush, as The 100-Minute War comes to a close. All the factions, the clan of El, the Army of Zod, the Human Defense Corps, they're demonstrated either fighting hard, or going down hard. CAFU and Eduardo Pansica did a good job with the pencils, as well as J.P. Mayer in inking.
The Bad
As I said beforehand, this was a glorified reason to hit the reset button. A lot of people here and more people who read the issue saw that coming once reading this issue. And such like everyone, I'm not happy. To squander the potential of both Flamebird and Nightwing, to shoot Mon-El back in the Phantom Zone, hell, to even make Guardian not be The Guardian anymore was just wrong. This definitely could've used a better ending, but it reeks of being rushed to the point that it was just thought out at the last minute.
The Verdict
There's a sliver of good in this issue, but it's overshadowed by the bad that seems to stick out as visually as the cover of this issue. Never, in my time reading comics, have I been continually mad at these blunders made by one creator, but turns out that James Robinson did just that, so thanks for making that achievement, Jimmy. Stay away from Superman, stay away from Roy Harper, you've wrecked their atmosphere irreparably. Well, in Supes' case, I hope the talented J. Michael Stazcynski can make the landscape of Kal-El a better one, if not, an edible one. 2/5 A DUD
