Superman Island was an island located in the Atlantic Ocean Superman created one day by crushing together mountains and other giant rocks. Following the 'construction' of the island, Superman makes the cliffs on the island steep enough so that no ship could land there and landscapes the island with red, blue and white plants so as to make the island in his own image. Rather than arrogance, he explains that the unique appearance of the so called Superman Island was to prevent anyone from accidentally landing on the island.

Furthermore, in order to prevent navigation problems, Superman outfits the island with an enormous lighthouse and foghorns to aid in navigation at night or in fog. The lighthouse even projects a massive projection of him instead of a normal beam of light. There are also air canons to prevent airplanes from landing on the island. On the island, Superman begins constructing machines to aid in constructing a giant vault.

Needless to say, Superman constructing a giant island in his own image and preventing anyone from landing on it piques peoples' curiosity. Lois Lane investigates and inquires to a professor named Vanley, whom Superman had recently talked too about an unknown project. Whilst talking to him, Vanley's experimental generator breaks down, knocking him unconscious. following this, Lois asks a group of sailors to take her to Superman Island for $100. When arriving there, they find a hidden opening to aid in case of shipwreck victims.

On the island, the two sailors reveal themselves as crooks wishing to exploit the treasures they believe to be on the island. Instead, they find that the reason Superman had constructed the island and was using tools to load things into a vault was that he had gathered all of the Kryptonite on Earth he could find. The reason, as Lois finds out after being rescued from the thugs who wish to sell the Kryptonite to the 'underworld', was that Superman had asked Vanley to build a test generator to see if nuclear power can be derived from Kryptonite. Unfortunately, Kryptonite crumbles any generator it touches. Upon finding this out, Superman disposes of the Kryptonite, and the island along with it, by throwing it into space.
