The Series Killing Final Issue
This issue was the series killer, and it reads like it. The Toyman's devices and the speed with which he builds and deploys them is ludicrous just during the time Jimmy Olsen was held captive by him (like an afternoon) he discovers Jimmy's signal watch, reverse engineers it. Creates and distributes bombs in teddy bears with the device in them, set to detect Superman's fingerprints (which he also gathered and reverse engineered during the same afternoon) - detects Superman's fingerprints through the teddy bear fur, mind you - and detonates. Actually, that's the simplified version - it's actually even more complicated than that.
Superman isn't without his own ridiculous moments too - just one of them is this, the way he found Jimmy with only seconds to go under stress of 10 simultaneous explosions in areas populated by children: "After thinking back to my encounter with his toys outside the planet, I figured he was sending back a sonic counter-signal to cut off the replicated watch signals. When I go close to his booby trapped toys, I just waited for him to send that signal, and it was a snap to follow it back to the source." Say what?
There's even more bad writing, but you get the gist. Sad to say, the art isn't much better. The series ends here, but it really doesn't seem like much of a loss.
