    Superman pulls a Forrest Gump

Other than the Superman 700 issue a while back, I haven't read a Superman comic in a while. When I heard about the Superman grounded arc, I was curious. In the last part of issue 700, Superman started his walk across the USA. Now in issue 701, Superman contiunes his walk.

    Pros:
Its interesting to see how Superman just help average people from the smallest things, to the bigger things. And he's doing this while walking! He uses his powers a little in this issue, but overall he's walking. In a way, it feels a little bit like the old school Superman when times weren't that hectic. These little things Superman is doing just feels like when I read Superman or watch Superman on tv when I was younger.
And despite some of the light moments, there are some dark moments such as the subject of suicide. Most comics go into this issue, and in Superman, his action surprised me. We always have a choice in what we do and Superman is no exception. J. Michael Straczynski does a great job making Superman seem almost human. When you look at it, these are just real life stories going around the world as well even as I write this.

I love the funny moments in this issue like with almost everyone asks him if he's affected by the red-K or if he lost his powers. Its also funny just seeing people's reactions as people never in a million years would ever see or talk to Superman upfront.

The artwork is great. I know a lot of artist have all different styles of how to draw Superman: tall and steroid-like muscles, or Christopher Revee like, but Eddy Barrows does a great job making Superman appear human, but still an intimidating-like person.  The civilians are drawn nice as well along with the environments such as the buildings, houses and vehicles.

    Cons:

Its slow somewhat. I'm pretty sure this is how it will be for a while, but it not necessarily a bad thing. This is a 12 part arc I believe.

Overall: The first part of Grounded is interesting to say. I'm curious on how the superhero community and villains will see this in the future. This is a great issue to get back into Superman as even I fell out of touch of him.  Check it out.

I have a theory about Superman. My theory is that the reason why so many people are put off by Superman is that he is essentially, what is called in the literary world, a flat character. He must conform to the prescribed rules of his nature, and this can make it hard to relate him. At the end of the day no matter how much Red Kryptonite is involved Superman is always going to do everything he can to save the day. But, what does that mean "save the day". After a giant battle with some crazy space...

      J. Michael Straczynski can finally have a week where he won't be forever linked for drastically changing Wonder Woman's status quo. He's beginning the new arc of Superman, aptly titled "Grounded", and if there was any indication of his preview last month, this will be a very touching issue, that I think at least, this story will be remembered fondly for years to come. While Luthor's off finding the black rings, and Kara's set to deal with her Bizarro clone, Supes is just walking across America. ...
