    What happens when you...

Well, here we are at the penultimate issue of the Last Stand of New Krypton crossover and I'd have to say that the Superman family of books have really taken a huge step back to the forefront of comics.  Still short of the peak but back to action and great stories that move at a good pace.  We who have stayed with the Superman family of books have been greatly rewarded with this issue and with Last Stand of New Krypton #3.

The story picks up with Zod and crew ripping their way through Brainiac's 'bots.  Soon joined by Superman.  He and Zod have rather terse conversation which solidifies there views and motives.  Great Job, James!  Zod and Brainiac clash and Supes flys off to find the bottled City of Kandor.  He joins up with Kara and Brainiac 5.  We get a flash back sequence from Mon-el that files in some hanging plot threads.  Loved it.  Then we cut over the Legion fighting to find the bottled city's to save the future.  I found some humor with Matter-eater Lad.  Just as the Super robots appear Mon-el is there to save the day.  The weakest point in the story because we don't see how Mon-el is freed to help them.  Kandor is saved and Supergirl and Brainiac 5 return it to New Krypton and enlarge it.  All the while Zod and Brainiac are battling it out.  Zod without his "super powers"  We then have a really twist and Lex enlarges a City on board the skull ship and well I guess you know what will happen if you have that happen.  We end with a fiery Skull ship heading toward New Krypton!  Good place to stop and hook you in for the final chapter.

James Robinson is joined by Bernard Chang on the art duties.  I am in love with this man's art!  It has flavor and texture.  Good back grounds and flowing action that really adds much to the script!

Great book well worth reading.  All of this crossover has been one pay off after another.  With well paced action and art across the board!  Wait this isn't the end.  We still have War of the Supermen.  If the pacing here has picked up just wait for the 100 minute War.  Get this and that!  Saturday I'll be at my shop to get the zero issue.   Great jumping on point.  So just do it!
