    "Mr. Mxyzptlk! in As Good as His Word!". An all Lex Luthor issue! That mischievous imp, Mr. Mxyzptlk, is back in Metropolis. With the Man of Steel in a self-imposed exile in deep space who will stop him. Well, Lex Luthor has never been one to share his city. Plus, Luthor's Machiavellian scheming continues in "Hostile Takeover: Poison Pill!" Part 3 of 4.

    • "As Good as His Word!" written by Roger Stern and Tom Peyer, penciled by Paris Cullins, inked by Dennis Janke, lettered by John Costanza and colored by Glenn Whitmore.
    • "Poison Pill!" written by Jerry Ordway, penciled by Dan Jurgens, inked by Dennis Janke, lettered by Albert De Guzman and colored by Glenn Whitmore.
    • Superman doesn't appear in this issue, however Mr. Mxyzptlk briefly takes the identity of Superman to scare Lex Luthor.
    • Laura Conway is not seen but is heard calling Morgan Edge on the phone.
    • The "Hostile Takeover" storyline is continued from Adventures of Superman #453.
    • The "Hostile Takeover" storyline continues in Adventures of Superman #454.

    Superman #31 - As Good As His Word! / Poison Pill! by endanger on October 09, 2011

     This was an issue with many scenes that worked to perfection. In fact, this should have been a perfect issue. It started out fun, interesting, and with a creative breath of fresh air that we haven't seen from Mr.Mxzyl from some time. However, Lex Luthor somehow found out about Mxzl's weakness and used it to his advantage. Thus, my problem with this issue. We always see Superman outwit Mxyzl using his brain and other harmless tricks, but never tried to get violent or actually attempted to hurt M...
