The best one yet
I've never written a review... So let's see how well this goes.
Last issue Spider-Man's mind controlled team broke free, and they were not too pleased with him.
This issue opens up with Spider-Man already beaten, being held down by sand and mocked by the Chameleon. And soon after the rest of the Superior Six take their verbal shots at him.
We then pan to the beaten Light Master, who is in shock from his daughter's "death." Vulture's about to beat him to death when Spock snaps over and heroically says "Leave him, I'm the one you want."
That particularly stuck with me, just to see how much Otto has grown since he got the body, and there's much more of this to be had throughout the issue.
Pan out, and we find out that Star Girl is in fact not dead, she's just been thrown really far away. And then, just as Vulture goes to throw Lightmaster off of a building, she swoops down to save him, and then Otto as well. They take out a few of the members before Electro then decides to work the Sciencey-Machine-Thing to destroy the city, and as all hope looks to be lost, Otto once again reflects on his past to see how wrong he was.
Oh and then they just break the machine in half. Crisis over.
Spock admits to Sun Girl that this whole disaster was really his fault, and then she adds insult to injury saying "And I thought you were a hero."
The issue ends with Otto repeating the words he first thought when he became the Superior Spider-Man, realizing he has truly failed.
And it looks like a certain group has decided things have gone too far.
The Good -
This issue constantly showcases Otto's growth as a character and has him finally realizing his faults, something that we haven't really seen much of until this point, as in past issues of SSM and Team-up he's simply marked off the negative consequences as "necessary." Overall, Chris Yost is handling Spock extremely well, and I can't wait to see the next issue.
The Bad -
The fact that the crisis stops by just breaking the machine in half seems like a bit of a cop out, but I'm not terribly angry.
The Verdict -
This is easily the best issue of Team Up yet, and I'm more excited than ever to see what comes next.
