While Supergirlmoved networks from CBS to CW in a recent announcement, there are already big plans for the second season. Supergirl will be visited by her cousin, Superman, in the first two episodes of the new season.

Andrew Kreisberg revealed the news this morning, via Nerdist, that Kara will be joined by her cousin, Kal-El: "Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape."

There's no news yet as to who will play the Man of Steel in these opening episodes. The chances of Batman v Superman star Henry Cavill reprising his role are slim to none, considering the huge differences in tone between the films and television series, among other things.

Superman did appear, in silhouette, in the first season of Supergirl, when it was on CBS. The character is mentioned numerous times during the season, so his inclusion makes sense. Now that the show is on The CW, the network has expanded their DC television universe immensely. Supergirl is now part of a longer list of DC shows including Arrow, The Flash, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

More than likely, there will be a casting announcement within the upcoming weeks. Supergirl returns to television this fall.

The way they tried to avoid showing him in season 1 was actually kind of cringeworthy. If you are going to play with Superman, then at least show him properly, or don't show him at all. Welling would be nice for the role, but I'm not optimistic that could happen.

But, get ready for the inevitable comparisons between the two.

A blogger I follow made a tweet guessing that Superman will basically tell Kara he's going into space for some time in his two episode cameo thus removing any further plot holes as to why he doesn't come and bail Kara out like when the Kryptonians tried to take over National City.

They have to answer a few questions if their gonna bring in Superman.

I'm getting more and more excited by all the Supergirl news. I wonder how big his role would be. It'd be hard not to overshadow Supergirl if Superman is there I'd think.

Now if CW gets a solid comic show for friday, they will have an hr of my time 5 nights a week. I wonder how old they are gonna go with the actor.

B. The biggest plot hole to me was explaining why Clark left a whole Kryptonian Prison on earth and did nothing about it. Hopefully he'll explain it on the show.

A show built around the cousin of the first real super hero, the greatest and most powerful super hero ever, basically teased about how he was around but strangely never there to help her even when she fought super powered beings who could kill her.

He'll be around long enough to help her out with whomever is in the capsule and then see her off as she is permanently sent to the same universe as the other CW series'

I thought his Clark Kent was excellent. He didn't quite have the prototypical "Superman" look but I thought his Clark Kent perfectly captured the wholesomeness and goodness of Clark Kent while not going overboard on being nerdy/whimpy/clumsy. I remember really enjoying watching Lois & Clark when it was on.

I have always wanted to see a "DC Universe" type show where *any* DC character could be used. In this way, we would see a truer representation of the DC Universe instead of having Green Arrow be this universe's Batman (we can't use Batman so let's make Green Arrow more Batman like...).

I hated that they killed off Amanda Waller just because they were told not to use any Suicide Squad characters.

Is that any different from comic books? A bunch of heroes in Gotham and Metropolis but only Batman and Superman are doing anything about the threats most of the time.

At least in the comics Superman has his own stuff going on to explain away why he isn't there. In the show, it's just "Where is Superman?" "How should I know?"

It's like with Flash and Arrow, they are usually both busy at the same time to explain why Flash isn't beating up Damian Darhk or why Arrow didn't help with the Metahuman army of Zooms.

So now that Supergirl is on CW are they going to do a COIE and combine her universe with Flash/Arrows?
