How does DCnU supergirl's powers differ from Supermans this time around?

So far I think that it's only been revealed that she can increase or decrease the temperature of her body at will.

Besides while fighting a villain that sees heat signatures like a "Predator" i dont see how that is very useful. Kryptonians are already resistant to earthly temperatures

@DEGRAAF: You're right, I can't see how it would be usful, unless Krypton was an ice planet which would then make the power very handy. But I don't think Krypton is being depicted that way anymore.

Yea but it has also changed from they couldn't stop the planet from blowing up because their sun went supernova to they were to arrogant to see the truth to their super computer system lied to them about their planet blowing up so they didn't know to their planet was sabotaged and blown up by someone or by their super computer

well the only difference i have seen so far was when scream she was doing some damage to the robots

I do not think this is a new power but the writer's attempt to explain the Kryptonians ability to resist extreme conditions on Earth and elsewere.

That is just because of a Kryptonian's invulnerability(under a yellow sun only).

the new take on kara is growing on me i still miss sterling gates as the writer for Kara though. kara is my fav dc female then its Power Girl Catwoman and WW. kara is a great charater when shes treated right.

It seems like her powers manifested a lot earlier than Superman's did.

Well if u think about she had to spend about 25 years roughly in status not using any powers at all plus I assume absorption is better when you are older then younger at the very least u have more surface area to absorb light.

SHe seem to have extra powers like i notice in the 2nd and third issues she confirmed it in issue number 7

In the Volume 5 ongoing series, Kara absorbs her ship's artificial sunlight for 25 years in suspended animation, explaining her powers manifesting quickly after arriving on Earth and why she's theoretically more powerful than Superman. Superman actually had to grow into his powers whilst living on Earth and didn't manifest them until puberty.

In DCnu Supergirl had some sort of solar burst attack which seemed powerful and Reign implied that Kara one strongest on planet and her powers only growing I have theory that could be wrong Spoilers ahead: Reign said out of five chambers that her and three siblings awoken from one of the chambers had been empty for quite while could mean kara was in the fifth chamber and she part of WordKiller progamme headed by her father for whatever unknown reasons could this be why kara so powerful came out her pod and has powers that Kal doesn't have.

She has some kind of omnidirectional solar burst and possibly a sonic/vibrational scream....

seems pretty cool, it would be nice to set her apart from Kal

this doesnt seem to be unique to just her though. Superman mentioned that he does not only absorb radiation he can also project it in multiple forms (whether it is just from his eyes i dont know) but he sent out microwaves to fry computers

@CBF_Webs: She still had artificial yellow sun in her pod in the new universe as well? it just took her longer to get to earth?

@Jorgevy: Idk it Supermans is omni-directional but he was able to put out microwaves (not sure if it was from his eye or his whole body) able of frying the computers near him

There's only so many ways to depict Kryptonian powers. The difference is in how the character is written. So far they've been doing a decent job of making Kara different than Superman, to the point that she was doesn't even want to be around him. I like letting her develope on her own before getting involved with Supes or the JLA or other heroes.

maybe her powers will be similar to Matrix's.

Well that is True i will continue to buy and get more comics when things settle . I am enjoying these New 52

mmm well, sort of. Matrx came first as a protoplasmatic creature with the powers of shapeshifting telekinesis, and cloaking (including invisibility) then Matrix became fused with Linda. Linda and Matrix became a new Supergirl (Let's say a second supergirl) armed with newfound superhuman abilities. ;D

So Kryptonians females have added abilities then Kryptonians males or is that just Kara abilities and can Power Girl do the same things Kara does in her book like omnidirectional solar burst attack she did against the Wordkillers?

@Zoch81: so far PG has not shown either omnidiretctional bursts or sonic scream. Funny though, Ive just read AME-COMI's Supergirl issues and she also has some kind of sonic scream in there. Maybe it's the new SG status quo for her to have omnibursts and super screams, so maybe Powergirl will have those too

@LoganRogue24: Not fans of the Super Family but i'm enjoying her series. What's pissing me off is how ignorant she can be smashing everything first and asking questions later? She almost barbaric in that way she needs to take a chill pill most of the time.

And Yes he can dispell her the yellow sunlight around her and encase her body in it. She also seems to differ from clark in that she runs out of that energy pretty fast despite she was orbiting the sun for years!

And she no longer has the sun-stone implants right?
