    Supergirl Finding Her Place

    The Story:

Under the guidance and watchful eyes of Superman and Batman, Supergirl continues her training. She teams up with several different heroes attempting to prove her worth and eventually comes across Lex Luthor who has devised a plan in which he uses Black Kryptonite against her. The effects were the unleashing of a "dark" version of Supergirl who wreaks havoc.

    My Thoughts:

After reviving the Supergirl character in the Superman/Batman series, writer Jeph Loeb continues to introduce her character to the 21st century in this story about power and knowing your limits.

One thing I've enjoyed that Loeb has done since Supergirl's revival, is reading the continuous guidance delivered to Supergirl by Superman. Supergirl is a teenager trying to adjust to this world and learn her limits. She becomes a little overconfident at one point saying her powers are superior to that of Superman's. The part towards the end about knowing your limits was nicely written and dead-on Superman dialogue. While reading it I couldn't help but crack a smile as Loeb reminded me why Superman is one of my favorite super heroes.

The art is by Ian Churchill who does a phenomenal job. He draws an awesome Supergirl. Not only that, the way he drew all the characters was great. He easily captured the action and emotion in Loeb's writing. I loved looking at Churchill's two-paged spreads. Michael Turner drew a couple of covers that were beautifully done as well.

I would definitely recommend reading this but before you do, you should read Superman/Batman: Supergirl as the events in this comic take place after the events in that comic. Jeph Loeb modernizes the Supergirl character to perfection while exploring the boundaries and limits of the power one wields.

    Rating: 4.5/5

I've never really viewed Supergirl as an "important" character before so I wasn't expecting much from her story, but I really enjoyed learning more about her background. There was quite a bit in here that I didn't know about her before. One thing I had mixed feeling about were the appearances of so many other superheroes and villains. On one hand it was great to see all those familiar faces, but at the same time none of them get to have much of a role in the story. I think it would have been bett...
