"You are not prepared for this world."
Synopsis: Refusing to believe that her home planet is destroyed, Kara searches for her ship to leave Earth.
What's Good?
Kara's still a bit stubborn. Instead of accepting that Krypton is destroyed and going with her cousin to come up with a reasonable plan, she decides to do things by herself. The story begins to shift into a new direction different from Supergirl's previous origins, as Kara gets her own version of Lex Luthor, Simon Tycho does a great job using this issue to have Kara test her powers as she tries to get her pod back. Like the previous issues, those mixed emotions Kara stirs up come back . Michael Green and Mike Johnson are doing a great job with this Superman title that's different from the other ones. Where we in other Superman titles, Superman is trying to find his place in the world, and Superboy trying to figure out what his purpose.
Mahmud Asrar is joined by Bill Reinhold in possibly the best looking issue yet. Paul Mounts also helps when comes to the coloring. Visually, the artwork looks like painting coming to life especially in the beginning. The brain also looks effective with his abilities I also like the effect of what Kryptonite does now.
What's Bad?
I don't know. Maybe it's because the story is going in a different direction that's not seen in any of Supergirl's origins. I mean, one would expect Kara would go with her cousin to figure out a better course of action, but instead, she does things by herself. I'm still curious to find out what happens in the next issue, but I'm still left with an uneasy feeling.
Overall:
Despite my uneasiness, this is a nice change towards Supergirl and it gets better each issue.
