Because at the time only kryptonite from your own universe could weaken a superman. He also was the primary superman who was connected to the source aka the writers. He could break the fouth wall. He suffer from memories of two timelines and like prime his world was ripped from him. So instead of his loving parents he got a acholic father. Also battle of the cowl is when he let go of the batman legacy. In batman in robin he is more goal oriented and has scarlet to keep him to his conviction.

Also the reason he complain about dick so much is he was created as a red headed carbon copie in one timeline and he was made to look like him in both. He was originally a acrobat but timeline shifts changed him but didn't. So batman took more from him than people think.
