@longbowhunter: Trailers shouldn't give away the plot, they're meant to build excitement.

'Suicide Squad' SDCC Trailer Officially Released
longtime lurker...I have to throw in here, I feel so relieved that I'm not the only one not digging the role of Deadshot being played by Will Smith. I'm with you peeps. I'm just not down with him, I know he has a huge fan base but I'm worried he won't bring the glory to the table that Deadshot deserves. I really want him to prove me wrong, but my gut says he won't.
Leto...and the styling of Joker for this flick I will reserve opinion til I see it. It's not what I would've picked but I'll roll with it.
Bottom line it's really a freaking awesome time to be a comic fan...Will Smith or not.
Wow!!! Not really feeling the characters yet but that trailer just scared the crap out of me.
Super creeped out.
Hate to be the odd man out, but I'm more excited for this than Batman V. Superman. Both have good looking trailers, but I get a better since of personality with this cast as opposed to the trinity in Dawn of Justice.
How are you the odd man out here? Pretty much everyone here (most, not all,) is saying they like this one more than BvS. If anything, liking BvS more (as I do,) makes you the odd man out.
Yeah, looking back at all the comments, I'm definitely not alone in that opinion. I'm pretty surprised considering the intense amount of appraise that was coming out when the Dawn of Justice trailer released :P
Jeez, I really love the trailer but wanted too see what others had too say and I'm honestly very surprised. People are complaining about tiny things and are getting angry over a person liking one thing over the other and just wow lol. I love all the trailers put out and as a comic fan I am glad I can see the heroes I grew up with in live-action. I say that about this movie Deadpool, BVS, X-men, FF, etc.
@worldflash: I'm not speaking strictly about the trailer. I'm wondering if anyone has read anything or heard anything about the plot.
@keepcalm: Honestly, I'm more excited for BvS, but this movie looks really good as well. I'm so excited to see all of these DC properties brought to life. I cannot wait to see the next few years unfold.
Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman...The thought of all these characters getting their due is so exhilarating. Finally, people won't be able t say that DC only has Superman and Batman anymore. And we'll have TWO comic book universes unfolding on the big screen, not just one.
I still don't like the way Joker looks in this...I think that I would be happy if it weren't for the teeth, tattoos and lack of shirt just to show off the tattoos....his performance is what's going to have to sell it for me...growing up on the Timm stuff the ideal Joker for me will always be the BTAS Joker so any other interpretation of him is going to be compared to that and so far this one isn't living up to that bar
@scouterv: they're trying to say he looks more like a cosplayer playing Deadshot than actually being the character.. Which is subjective suited for opinion
Yeah, it doesn't have anything to do with the way he looks. I actually like the costume a great deal. In my experience Will Smith is prone to playing a heightened version of himself in most movies. You tend to get that a lot with "movie stars" as opposed to actors.
@srialchllr: Welcome to the Vine!

Not sure,I understand all this drama over Will Smith. The guy used to be an amazing actor people are being melodramatic about this, and Gal Gadot(who looks great as WW) All of this seems so nitpicky tbh...but than again Comic Book fans.
@mrtummytumms: Everyone betrays one another in the Suicide Squad so I will not be suprised lol
@scouterv: its as if some of these people know him personally or something.
Im thinking Joker is talking to Harley at the end and is about to give her electro shock "therapy".
I think you're right.
If you look closely at 2:17-2:18 you can see Joker standing over Harleen Quinzel who's strapped down to a hospital bed.

It's not nitpicking to hope they cast the right actor. I understand most people won't know or care if Smith and Ayer don't nail the characterization of Floyd Lawton, but I'll know and I'll care. I can't speak for anyone else here, but I don't want him to do a poor job. That would be a stupid thing to wish for. I think not being a fan of Will Smith and having him play one of my favorite characters entitles me to being a bit dubious and keeping my fingers crossed. On the plus side I dig the suit and from what the trailer shows he has a back story. So here's hoping I'm wrong and walk out of the theatre a Will Smith fan.
$20 says Captain Boomerang ends up betraying the team.
@mrtummytumms: Everyone betrays one another in the Suicide Squad so I will not be suprised lol
I hope they really play up this. I don't want this to be like GotG, where a bunch of A holes (I mean this in a nice way) team up, argue, then become BFFs. I want them to be...villains. Straight up in it for themselves, looking out for Number One, bad guys, who are only working together to stop their heads from exploding.
Please don't turn them into heroes. Though, Ayer said at comic con that they are bad guys, so this gives me hope.
@longbowhunter: They're trying to keep you guessing I think still, so little information on the plot has been released to any media.
@worldflash: That makes me even more curious.
Am I the only one who enjoyed this teaser more than the Batman V Superman one? :D
No?...
Okay then, I'll go...
@manneffest: You're not alone! Come back!
This looks awful.
I hate everything about it, the casting, the costumes, the hugely obscure villains they're bringing in.
Harley Quinn is so bland and forgettable, especially her voice. Amanda Waller was originally voiced by a great actress they could have brought in but nope. Will Smith is a terribly choice for Deadshot. The Joker looks like some weird Goth metal band version of the Joker and his voice is flat and boring. Killer Croc looks the worst, it's obviously make-up. What's the point of the others? Enchantress, Slip-knot, how obscure do we need villains? Also, don't only like two of them have abilities? The trailer makes it sound like they all have powers.
I will not see this movie.
Also, don't only like two of them have abilities? The trailer makes it sound like they all have powers.
The trailer literally says "Some of them have abilities".
@saren: Nice way to pick the only part of my argument you could pick apart. Also, which of them? I am guessing only Enchantress since Harley, Deadshot, Slip-knot, El Diablo, Katana and technically Killer Croc have no powers.
I stand by my other statements, this movie looks like garbage and it's going to be.
@docholiday: lol okay, bye.
@mrtummytumms: I am not leaving, this movie looks like garbage and I stand by that.
You can go "lol" yourself somewhere else.

I didn't bother with the rest of it because most of it is nonsense. Anyone who's familiar with Viola Davis's body of work and doesn't think she's an amazing choice for Amanda Waller does not have an opinion worth entertaining.
Depends on how they decide to interpret the powers, but in the comics Diablo is a pyrokinetic, Killer Croc has superhuman strength and durability, and Katana has an enchanted sword. Harley has enhanced strength and reflexes as well, but I don't know if that's going to make it to the screen before Ivy does.
@saren: You left out Killer Crocs jobber aura...
@saren: Flat, her acting is flat, it comes across as bland at best.
As for the others powers, they don't show them and the costume choices make them look odd and boring. Diablo has skull tattoos and a lettermans jacket? What the hell? Killer Croc looks like a reject from a TMNT sequel from the 90s. Harley is the worst of the worst, nothing stands out about her character and hers should be the most vibrant and attention grabbing.
You can get your hopes as high as you want but I am keeping myself far away from this abomination they call a film.
@sprior93: ty much - happy to be out of the lurking closet
