Retro Review -- Ditko & Ayres Magic!
Strange Tales 122
I love the done-in-one stories from the Silver Age of Comics – or should I say the Marvel Age of Comics? Stan Lee penned some pretty plenty powerful pieces of scripts for the two stories in 122.
The cover proclaims the "Three Against the Torch,", art by Don Heck and written by Stan "The Man" Lee. The villains are a bit lame, but they're not super-powered, yet they have the skill and strength to take down Johnny Storm before they move on to his sister.
Trapped in a mobile home and tied by asbestos, he could have still burned through the ropes but getting very, very hot. But what was I thinking? He uses lots of smoke to attract the fire department!
Special note: Johnny's new car! And his moping about his girl "Doris has a lot of homework tonight..." Corns-ville, man. :)

Dr. Strange, Master of the Mystic Arts shares the book with a great tale about Nightmare, and though he gets trapped in a dream, he finds a clever way to escape. Notable is the Steve Ditko artwork, the way the dimensions look and the weird denizens that inhabit this dream dimension. Great stuff!
Final Comments:
I picked up this old issue, all beat-up on eBay, for a song. But a very fine to near mint copy may cost you: between $60.00 to $100.00! Fun stories!
