Eye Of The Storm
Stormwatch battle the moon and attempt to recruit Midnighter.
My Thoughts:I thought the first issue if Stormwatch showed potential. It was definitely a unique series which I planned on giving a shot. Paul Cornell managed to spark my interest enough to make me want to continue. In this second issue he tries desperately to make these events seem more epic then they are. After finishing the issue, I felt as if not a whole lot had happened. I didn't really care or get excited about anything that happened. Right now I feel as if this series would be better read in trade. I may end up dropping it and wait for the trade. I'm undecided as of now.
One thing I do like about the series is the interesting characters. They have abilities unlike anyone else. Jack Hawksmoor and the Projectionist have abilities I wouldn't pick if I was a superhero, but they definitely make great use of them. I'm waiting to learn more about these characters. So far I don't feel as if Cornell has done a good job letting newer readers know who exactly these characters are. He's simply trying to set up this story where they battle the moon. I want to learn more about these characters first.
I do like Miguel Sepulveda's artwork a lot. Of course colorist Alex Sinclair can make anyones pencils look better than they are. Together they make a fine team. A lot of the splash pages in this series have been awesome.
Overall this was a decent issue but nothing that gets you real excited. They try to get you excited on that last page by telling you what to expect next but I can't say I'm filled with anticipation for the next issue.
