Director Bryan Singer has been keeping pretty busy lately splitting his time between celebrating the success of his latest film, Jack The Giant Slayer at the box office (it hit number one over the weekend) and making some additions to cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past. The director of the upcoming X-Men movie tweeted his excitement over the announcement that actress Halle Berry would return to reprise the role of Storm in the upcoming film.

The actress spoke of her excitement over joining the cast of Days, even if she isn't quite sure what her role in the upcoming movie will be. Berry revealed in a recent interview that she "loves" Storm and is "happy to be back."

"I love Storm. This character is so loved by so many people and I am just happy to be back," The actress said. When she was asked what her role in the film would be, she replied that she was "not sure," but that "the script, as it always is with 'X-Men' is a work in progress, it is [presently] being honed and figured out." Regardless of what role she will play and how the addition of a character like Storm will impact the film in general, Halle Berry is happy to be back. "Whatever it is that I will end up being, I am just happy to be back. I love that character."

With so many actors and actresses announced, one has to wonder how Singer will fit them all into one film. What do you think of the news of Halle Berry's return to Storm? Are you looking forward to seeing the actress return to the role?

I'm not happy that the old cast is infiltrating the new one (didn't think Halle was a good Storm). Maybe they'll only appear for a brief moment a la Wolverine and Rebecca/Mystique, maybe it'll work out seamlessly, but yeah...I wish the First Class films were a reboot vs trying to tie all the films together (which feels really clunky on paper).

I like how Bryan Singer is just making this movie a sequel to his first two.

I hope they'll fix their continuity with DOFP. I'm happy about the return of some old characters and actors :) Still waiting for the Cyclops and Colossus return news hehe

YAY! She was the best thing in Last Stand and made that movie passable. She is without a doubt the best performed character in the original X-Men trilogy outside of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKelllen.

Mixed emotions. On one hand, she's a big part of the source material and I'm happy to see her included. On the other hand, THERE'S SO MANY CHARACTERS! It'll be one helluva impressive feat if Singer manages to properly juggle this many characters.

I like Halle Berry; I think having original members from the first trilogy isn't a good idea, though. "First Class" gave the writers the opportunity to revamp certain aspects of the timeline and events. I think they may be over-reaching themselves because trying to do too much in an already packed movie with a complicated storyline might not work. Best of luck to them, though.

"WAY TO MANY CHARACTERS" either do a first class sequel or and x-men sequel making them one in the same is dumb especially when the main complaint about all the movies is that there are too many characters.

I actually liked Halle Berry as Storm. Compared to the 90s cartoon, she made Storm fit her age. As a kid I though Storm was an older woman cause of the cartoon lol

I liked her as storm but I don't want the old cast back I think they should have rebooted the X films with first class

Someone did mention that not all of the characters will interact with each other... I'm kind of thinking that the original trilogy's cast will appear in a scene like the one at the beginning of the X3 (only this time it won't be in the Danger Room) and the story will contnue on from there with the First Class cast.

@sora_thekey: I like that idea-- have a scene that'll appease those who liked the old cast from the old trilogy, then continue on with the new case (which I personally think absolutely STOMPS the old cast, sans Hugh Jackman as Wolverine).

I hated Halle Berry as Storm to be honest. She doesn't look anything like the 616 Storm or even talk or act like her. I love Halle just not as Storm

I wonder if they are going to change her hair again in this movie

I'm just hoping that Magik or Rachel make appearances to account for the time travel versus some other mutant created just for the purpose of the movie.

I don't think they'll make any new characters specifically for the movie.

However I worry that they might make a largely different version of a existing character for the job.

@comicfan123: A 120 min. movie and just focus on the old cast for the first 20-30 min... I agree with you for the exception that I loved Alan Cumming cast as Nightcrawler, Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier and Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde.

This woman was terrible as Storm. Period. She did nothing to render justice to Ororo as a quiet, but strong woman. All Halle did was bitch about her lack of screen time to Singer and threatened to hold out on X2 if she didn't have more screen time - and look what it brought us. Why didn't they get Angela Bassett?

Halle Berry has yet to do any film which displayed any acting chops beyond something pretty to look at - which is fine but try not to tell me her acting is integral to the character when it could be more accurately displayed (and probably more economically contracted) by a list of other more erstwhile actresses - among whom now I would place Gina Torres.

I am glad to see we are getting a good mix of both casts

What he said!,I think they should have recast Storm. If I don't see Colossus and Night Crawler I'm done with X movies , til Marvel/ Disney gets the rights back to the Xmen characters.

The concern over too many characters is misguided. The characters from the original trilogy will likely have a very small part in the film, serving only to bridge First Class and the original trilogy.

I have never been wild about Halle Berry as Storm, but since she was Storm in 3 flicks and maybe now she is humbled by the fact that Hollywood isn't eating her up like they seemed to be in the early 00s, perhaps she will not be so over the top. As for any concerns, I have to say this is the first X flick since X2 that I have absolutely none. Even X-men First Class I was very doubtful about until I watched it and no doubt the low expectations definitely helped me enjoy that movie. I think this is going to be awesome and I have no problem with a two and a half hour X-men movie. Perhaps they could even two part this movie to really make it epic. I swear I thought I heard when this was first announced the idea was to make two movies, maybe I just made that up in my head. Either way I am ecstatic.

I must say I am really surprised by some of the reactions of fans. Talking about Cyclops didn't die, etc, I don't see how any of that matters. If they are time jumping from 1970, then that future could be COMPLETELY different. I mean just by going to the future and the inevitable return would cause changes to the timeline so honestly I think this movie will server as a Star Trek of sorts. Where it will reset the timeline and they can move forward with Cyclops, Jean, Beast, etc and tell all new stories without it necessarily being a reboot. I think it's brilliant and I love it.

I really wish Marvel would get the rights to X-Men back.

Conflicted. Great to see Storm return as such an important part of the original story, but Singer gave the character sh!t lines and Berry did her no justice. We shall see.

i wished they had casted jessica lucas or annie ilonzeth as storm. halle berry best movie was  best movie was monster's ball.  storm should be extremely beauitful, tough, fierce and down to earth in the x-men films.

the only good thing about Halle as Storm is she looks dead on. Other then that?............Nothing. Sure she's excited to be playing Storm, she'll actually have an acting gig again. I never saw a person who won an oscar actually be such a crap actress. Maybe we'll get her naked in this.

I liked STorm in X3 as well, though many said it was the worst film i thought i was the best(maybe because storm was a lot better in it). She was a heck of a lot better than in the first 2. I'm hoping she gets more badA$$ for this one.. and after this movie I hope marvel gets the rights back to the xmen, reboot the crap and start again..

cant say im excited, only movie i've enjoyed was first class. Dont get me wrong ian mckellan and patrick stewart were great in their roles, but sadly they just seemed to feeble and old, i've always pictured magneto as a dude in his 60s but with an well toned body, and i've never pictured Prof X as just a cripple with powers in the comics, he's a force to be reconned with in his own way but in the first 3 movie all i say was an old man in a wheel chair

@GreenFuse: Why didn't you like Halle Berry as Storm? I think she fit the role very well myself. Not sure who else could have done the job. Any suggestions for who might else play her?

i agree but Im not sure if i was biased because Storm kicked ass and it was alot of great power showings from her.
