Childhood Love
A story about Storm's childhood that retells her first encounter with T'Challa.
My Thoughts:This six issue mini-series is written by New York Times best-selling author Eric Jerome Dickey. Just from reading this book I could tell it was written by an experienced writer, most likely a novelist. The way the story was written was extremely well done. Eric Jerome Dickey delved into Storm's background and delivered an enriched story full of romance, drama and war.
The story slowly shows the transformation of Storm from a thief to a woman in full control of her abilities. We see her under the guidance of a man named Teacher, whose heart may be in the right place, but his actions are questionable at best. During the course of the story, we gain more insight relating to Storm's parents and how they eventually died leaving her all alone. We see how her parents deaths and the teachings of Teacher have effected her.
The present day storyline that occurs began by other children antagonizing Storm and manipulating her into stealing a camera from a man. Things spiraled out of control as this man was a killer who began tracking Storm for revenge and looking to exploit her abilities for his own gain. Shortly later we witness the very first encounter between Storm and T'Challa. The attraction was instant. The interaction between the two was both funny and light-hearted. It's not long afterwards that the two find themselves in immense danger that threatens their lives.
The art is by David Yardin and Lan Medina. They're style was incredibly gorgeous. They captured they mood and setting of the story perfectly. Mike Mayhew delivered some exceptional covers for the series. I really loved the cover for issue four which had a young Storm and T'Challa gazing into each others eyes. It was simply elegant.
This was an incredibly well told story that is full of romance, action and drama. It's a must read for all Storm fans and a great book to learn more about her origins.
