Virgil Hawkins was exposed to a mutagenic gas that swept his city of Dakota, which gave him and other 'bang babies" superpowers. With the ability to control electromagnetism, Static joined the Teen Titans and continues to protect his city while serving on the team.

Wow you love ruinin surprises now don't yah? I hate to see my fav gal of DC get thrown around like though....
I think I'm going to start posting Static feats.... Here goes nothing.
Blocks a punch (backed by a belt buckle. LOL) with a electromagnetic shield and delivers his very own Tazer Punch.
Magnetically levitates two thugs and magnetizes them
Using his trashcan lid, he magnetically slams one guy into the ceiling and into some arcade machines.
Conjures up a ball of lightning and takes out some runners with it.
Blocks some heated coins thrown at high velocity from Hotstreak, as well as a speed blitz from said person.
On the night he gains his powers, he blasts police sentry with lightning.
Begins practicing his abilities and starts his superhero career.
Owns....
Hotstreak....
Blasts a hole in the wall with lightning. Then, uses a metal sheet to hold it while people can escape.
Creatively uses his powers to put out a fire by ionizing the air inside the building.
Here, he fires a shot of electricity....
...To electrocute the metal in Tarmack's hands.
Makes his Static Saucer for the first time.
Charges up some mobster's guns, blowing some of them up.
Sends a repulsion charge through the room to charge up everything...
And lay waste to the living room.
Blocks Holocaust's flame at the last second.
Uses an EM shield to block a flaming recliner thrown at him from Holocaust.
Magnetizes a large group of people and clings them togeether.
Creates a repulsion field large enough...
To repel and keep everyone back. Creates an EM shield to block a barrage of volleyball bombs
Makes it to City Hall quickly, at the speed of lightning. Hence to quote 'one crack of thunder later' EDIT: I spoke to McDuffie about this showing yesterday. He said that the caption 'a crack of thunder later' is just poetic license and that Static's flight speed is nowhere near the speed of sound. Disregard this showing. LOL.
Uses electromagnetism to sense a bomb.
Generates enough power to magnetically toss a full-size van (with the bomb in it) high over the city.
" Thats my boy!!!! Oh and a Static I was just saying because I hate to see my main girl in DC get manhandled like that... "
I feel you. Also, try not to quote the entire post of images, so people don't have to see the same images more than once in the thread. There's no need for that.... Can you edit your post?
"I find that funny because isn't that one girl that was with them before Eddie died his woman? "
Yeah, she is. And, IIRC, Aquagirl was trying to make moves on him while she was there. She even stated that she didn't like Jaime's girlfriend. Perhaps she's jealous, and/or competing with her.
Here's more. Guys, please don't quote the post full of images so people don't have to look at the same images more than once. Thanks.
Immobilizes the Botanist in mid-air by electromagnetic levitation
Does the same thing here.
Zaps a few with electricity, and electromagnetically clings a guy to a water fountain
Magnetizes the door of the security barrier...
To trap them and cling them to it.
Reverses the polarity of the shotgun...
Repelling the thug away from it as Static draws it into his hand.
Tags a car with electromagnetic energy...
Then, uses a seeker charge to find the car...
And zap the jackers inside.
Easily takes out some thugs.
Uses debris to shield himself from Puff's acidic gas....
And, uses his powers to spin some metal objects around at high speeds to make a fan and temporarily blow Puff away. Charges up one of the heated plates on D-Struct's body, causing it to explode, also hurting him in the process. The building collapses....
But, Static is able to shield himself with an EM shield.
Hits D-Struct with a Tazer Punch that knocks him on his back. I guess he makes his job look easy.
LOL, I like the lil mini-rivalry between her and Bombshell. Even though I think shes crazy to make some one like Bombshell mad...
" He's cool and all but what kind of hero turn's on his best friend for being gay? "
He never turned on him. He just couldn't believe it at first. After a while, he become tolerant of it.
Anyway, here's more...
Uses his eyes to blast forth lightning as his enemies.
While trying to resist telepathy from a villain composed of a swarm of bees and wasp...
...He blasts it with an unchecked load of electromagnetic energy, causing it to explode...
....And, somewhat demolish the building
Using a glass jar and a set of headphones, Static charges both of them up and sets up a sympathetic pulsation to match the love call of the mutated flying insect that was in control of the swarm to trap it in the jar.
Brata-Tat-Tat fires a rocket...
...Only for Static to use his powers to redirect it.
Here, he overloads Prometheus, a man with electric powers...
...Causing him to disappear...
Blitzes Run, Jump, and Burn with a Tazer Cannonball, dazing all of them.
The van stalls...
After Static is able to kill the engine from behind the van (though, one of them is able to keep it going with telekinesis.)
Uses an energy field to brush of 90% of Kilgore's electrons from his body, distribute them around the room, and let them come back to him in the form of an attack, KO'ing him in the process.
Blocks bullets, confiscates weapons, and Tazer Punches the thugs into the wall, clinging them there.
After Boom Box causes a shockwave in the building, Static protects everyone with a large EM shield.
Hits Boom Box with electricity powerful enough to send him flying across the room
Static-Clings Boom Box's mouth shut to keep him from using shockwaves with it Despite the fact that Rubberband Man is non-conductive, he still holds a charge easily. As a result, Static temporarily immobilizes him.
While being drained by Prometheus and held down by the Botanist's plants, Static carries on a pointless conversation about an episode of ER with Kilgore, who gestures Prometheus to stop draining him....
Though, Static only did it to buy himself time to charge up his powers and slug a Tazer Punch into his face.
Wraps and tangles Rubberband Man around the trees in the park.
Uses his Saucer, Captain America-style, to attack his friend, Frieda, who happens to be possessed by a Bang Bang with the power to absorb life force energy to gain superhuman abilities and the ability to shoot energy blasts.
Static blasts her with enough energy to separate Frieda....
From the Bang Baby that was possessing her.
Static hits her with a Tazer Punch powerful enough...
....To make her release all of the life force energy she's drained, including those from Bang Babies.
Uses his Saucer, Captain America-style, again, to knock out Powerfist.
Blocks some lasers.
Blocks more lasers.
Stops a tidal wave by using electrolysis, but inadvertently causes an hydrogen explosion.
Can really throw down in a fight
Can generate at least 20,000 volts.
Tazer Punches the whole crew and lays them out in one swing.
Can sense signatures of electromagnetic energy.
After failing to unlock a reinforced steel door with electronic tumblers....
...He just blows it off the hinges...
Blocks an energy blast from John Tower, who has previously feed off the powers of Bang Babies
After gaining all of the powers and abilities of every Bang Baby in Dakota and being overwhelmed by them after Static sets the free, the hero delivers the final Tazer Punch to finish him off. Charges up several objects in the apartment to stick to Ramjet, obscuring his vision while he's in flight.
Hits Ramjet with Tazer Punch, sending him through a brick wall.
Static and Starlight generate a magnetic field powerful enough to stop an F-4 that was moving at full speed
And, they magnetically ease it down to the ground.
Generates enough power to nearly destroy the ring and scramble the loud speakers.
Eventually resists the mind control of the Anti-Life equation, subconsciously, and generates more power than before.
Casually zaps Desaad and those responsible for capturing him.
Man knowing what hes capable of and now seein what he can potentially do it makes me wonder how powerful he could be at his full potential....Its scary good!
Is able to use his powers in a room that was meant to prevent him from using them... But, he pushes it to the limit, and lightning pours forth from the Tower in a powerful explosion, blowing out all of the windows.
And, ends up electrocuting Cyborg (who was possessed by Jericho). Keep in mind that Static was in San Francisco, while Cyborg was in New York when this happened. This is probably his most powerful showing.
This is a great thread. I love the artwork from the original Static series. I have trouble deciding whether I like his old costume with the fitted and the trench coat more or his current blue and black look which leaves his dreads exposed.

i like the old costume better "
One thing I like about his old costume was the feel of it. The fitted cap with the trenchcoat fit perfectly with the concept of the comic and the urban setting.
Personally I like the new one but thats probably because I unfortunatel only ever heard of Static after the debut of the TV show and wasn't able to get my hands on any of the milestone stuff.
@nj06: The whole trenchcoat thing is a little dated though. His old suit looked very 90's. I'd like them to give him something slicker, like the new Lightning Lad outfit.
Its about time they started showing how bad ass he can actually be. Im glad DC are focusing on bring forth the younger heroes to their full powers. its kinda cool!
Static rocks. Plain and simple. He's got serious potential power potential with his manipulation over electromagnetism. He's demonstrated some power in his own Milestone series and in DC comics. I also think he'll get even better once he matures more. Bottom line, Static rocks.
