Its a highly situational space/time teleportation feat. from the movies, it seemed like they just had a special never really explained romantic connection.

Yeah, they really pushed the idea of what the Force could do in the new trilogy. I liked that aspect. It made the Force new and mysterious again.

But in someways it's similar to Vader force-choking people over a video screen from cosmic distances, etc.
