Star Wars Episode IX Teaser
@mrmonster: yes he's back
First rule of comics: if you don’t see the body...
Looks good, but I’ll have to see more especially anything involving Leia. Similar to Endgame it’s a given that I will be seeing this in theaters.
I‘m ready
....
Here come all the “I won’t watch this because The Last Jedi destroyed my life” brats
...see you all there
As one of those brats, you bet your ass I'll be there opening week

Well I mean we did see him explode. Still true enough.
Although I'm gonna wait for the actual trailer and not get that excited, especially since what happened with TLJ. Still visually it looks good.
Also, I wonder which Skywalker they're referring to. Luke? Kylo? Maybe Rey?
Hopefully not Rey. I hate retcons and saying "Hey, the last movie lied about her parents!" really only serves to hurt the trilogy as a whole and adds nothing meaningful.
My theory: Rise of Skywalker refers to the Skywalker legacy, not just the bloodline. The revival of everything Anakin, Luke, and Leia spent their lives fighting for.
@tonymartial: Prob as a Force ghost connected to the debris of the DS. Something like that and Rey goes in and faces the darkness, only to emerge and learn something.....maybe, well wishful thinking perhaps.
I'm waiting for the actual trailer though, not gonna buy into the hype. Especially after TLJ, just because the directors changed doesn't get it a free pass to get excited again.
I really hope that the Skywalker who's returning is Luke. Therefor we can have an actual Skywalker in a movie. Or maybe even see him fighting Palpatine. Not that I care either way, but it would be nice. Redeeming Kylo will be just another predictable rip off from both original movies and EU honestly (Darth Caedus/Jacen Solo).
@tonymartial Well, in original Star Wars Universe (Expanded Universe/Legends), he came back like this:
~ Dark Empire #2 & #5
It's quite possible that Disney Canon will go with Clones and Essence Transfer as well. Wolfrazer suggested he may return as a Force Ghost, but Sith Lords can not become Force Ghosts (some exceptions exist), and if all that happens is Rey finding the holocron of Palpatine, well, that would be kinda anti climactic.
At least we'll get to see Sidious in all his evil glory once again.
Also: Lando!
Looks pretty good.
@krleavenger: Very interesting, thanks for the info
@krleavenger: After TLJ I'm not holding my breath for anything, we'll see what's what, but jumping in with huge hype just because of a teaser with Palps laugh and a change of directors is silly.
@tonymartial No problem.
@wolfrazer I basically have zero hype for any Star Wars product so don't tell me.

I don't think it would necessarily have to be a retcon. It could simply be revealed that Kylo Ren was lying from day 1.
Also, I think you could be right, I think this could be referring to the Skywalkers instead of 1 individual Skywalker.
Much better than expected.
Specially the title.

So The Force lied to Rey too then? Because in that cave scene, she asked to see her parents and only she appeared.
THEY ARE GOING BACK TO MILKING NOSTALGIA INSTEAD OF DOING SOMETHING NEW LIKE THEY PROMISED IN TLJ. PATHETIC

Unless she is her own parent, then yes, I think The Force wasn't being completely honest with her.
@wollfmyth209: Didn't Lucas say they can't do that? I remember that was the reason Him and Filoni didn't put Revan and Bane in the Mortis arc.
Then again Star Wars isn't exactly known to be consistent when it comes to the canon, legends or otherwise.
Edit: Unless it's an illusion like Bane was in the last episode of TCW.
@mrmonster: So a clone? That would be kinda tacky...although I wouldn't be surprised. In all honesty, I'm more curious to see the Sonic trailer.
Eh, gonna call that Palps doesn't physically appear at all, when Rey visits Endor, she briefly haunted by the spirit of Papa Sheev (IIRC, certain sith are powerful enough so that they haunt a place where/near where they died, their spirits forever lingering there).
@tenguswordsman: Looks like the SW gang has another mystery on their hands!

I personally would count that as a retcon. The reason that the audience knows that Rey's parents are nobodies is because Kylo outright said it, as well as Rey's Force vision. Nothing in either scene leads one to believe what the audience is being shown or told is anything but the truth. If the next movie come in and says that Kylo and/or the Force was lying, that's retroactive continuity; a retcon to what was established.

I always saw it more as the Force shattering her denial and forcing Rey to finally accept that her parents were NEVER coming back for her, like she was so insistent they would in TFA and thus why she kept wanting to go back to Jakku. I think the main reason she actually went to find Luke instead of going back was because she probably felt she owed it to Han and Finn.
@aros001: So now it's gonna be Rey having to accept after 3 movies her parents aren't coming back, after how many years she already was waiting for them? ....What a great character arc. That really should have been handled in the first movie and have her progress further than trying to find out when/if her parents are coming back.
Made me think of this:
haha, yea. Lightsabers are blunt force weapons now. Cant even cut a person in half.
