Force shield / barrier / defense, is a defensive Force power that can be used by Force users in battles, it's also for preventing to getting ragdolled, incapacitated or choked with the Force by other Force users.

A basic usage of Force shield, padawan Vos and Obi-Wan are using a defensive Force power, and creates a shield of Force energy against the carnivorous bugs, the challat eaters. (Legends)

Anakin uses the Force on Aayla Secura, padawan Ahsoka and other Clone Troopers, Ahsoka and the Clone Troopers getting knocked out on the floor, while Aayla isn't, due to her defensive Force powers. (Canon)

In the same series, Obi Wan also blocked a ton of blaster fire before fighting Durge. I want to say Mace Windu also used a barrier in the episode where he punched out super battle droids, but I can't remember.

Darth Bane uses a Force barrier that absorbs the impact of the explosion of half a dozen grenades, which results in Bane being completely unharmed:

"Half a dozen concussion grenades tossed in from every side clattered on the floor at his feet. As they exploded, Bane simply enveloped himself in the Force, creating a protective cocoon that absorbed the impact and left him standing completely unharmed." - Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil.
