Darth Venamis is one of the two Sith Apprentices of Darth Tenebrous. Tenebrous violates the Rule of Two by training two Sith apprentices at the same time, however Plagueis was unaware of this fact, while Venamis prepares to face Plagueis.
Venamis is also a good example on why the Sith has grown more powerful after nearly 1000 years, with ''each generation'', the Sith Lords has grown more powerful in the Banite Sith,
''The Sith had changed. The Sith had grown, had adapted, had invested a thousand years' intensive study into every aspect of not only the Force but Jedi lore itself, in preparation for exactly this day. The Sith had remade themselves. They had become new. While the Jedi-The Jedi had spent that same millennium training to refight the last war.''

That also applies to the Sith Lords that couldn't become Sith Master (such as Maul or Vader), because Venamis never become a Sith Master, (just like them), yet Venamis is nearly as powerful as Plagueis, whose powers were even amplified after Tenebrous's death. Venamis, just like Tenebrous, was more powerful than Pre-Tenebrous era Sith lords, and Darth Bane was more powerful than the Pre-Rule of Two era Sith Lords;

ACCOLADES
Venamis is Plagueis's ''near-equal'' in power, and Plagueis thinks it's powerful enough to be Tenebrous's spirit.

At this point, Plagueis's powers were ''amplified'' after the death of Tenebrous, and yet Venamis is ''nearly as powerful as'' Plagueis.

Tenebrous made Venamis in ''his image'', Venamis's presence in the Force was so identical to Tenebrous's that Plagueis wrongly assumed Darth Tenebrous cloned himself by using the Bith science to create Venamis.
“He (Tenebrous) made you in his image. You’re a product of Bith science.” The Bith laughed harshly. “You’re (Plagueis) an old fool. He (Tenebrous) found and trained me.”

Darth Plagueis states that Darth Venamis would've done ''well'' in Darth Bane's era.

COMBAT & SWORD MASTERY
Venamis enjoys sword combat, just like his master Darth Tenebrous.
''To Plagueis, lightsaber duels were tedious affairs, full of wasted emotion and needless acrobatics. Tenebrous, however, who had pronounced Plagueis a master of the art, had always enjoyed a good fight, and had clearly bequeathed that enthusiasm to his other trainee (Venamis).''

Venamis is a very aggressive duelist, he brings the fight at Plagueis shortly after clashing their laser swords.
''For no sooner had the blades of their weapons clashed than Venamis began to bring the fight to him in unexpected ways, twirling his surprisingly limber body,.''

Venamis uses hybrid and multiple saber forms, he mixes it while dueling with Plagueis.

Venamis can not only anticipate Plagueis's attacks, he can also counter attack Plagueis during the duel.

Their duel was ''a fight to the death'' for both Plagueis and Venamis, it wasn't easy for Plagueis until he changed his fighting style.

In the end, Venamis puts more power into his attacks and fights more aggressively against Plagueis, who changed his style and started to fight defensively, and focused on more of counter attacking.

FORCE POWERS
Venamis can hide his dark side power from the other Force users, even from Darth Plagueis, who is one of the most powerful dark side users of all time.

Venamis is a very skilled Telekinesis user, not only he protects himself against Plagueis's Telekinetic attacks, he can also suspend himself in the air during the duel by using Telekinesis, and continues to the duel as if from high ground. Plagueis considers this as a feat in itself, but Venamis doesn't stop there, he can even continue to the duel with Plagueis.
''At one point he (Venamis) leapt onto an overhanging greel branch and, when Plagueis severed it with a Force blow, hung suspended in the air— no mean feat in itself—and continued the fight, as if from high ground.''
