Xanatos
Star Wars comics are always a pleasure for me to read.Especially after hit series like Republic, Knights of the Old Republic and Legacy so Jedi:Dark Side was no exception for me to pick it up.If I'm saying well that the plot of the mini series is heavely based on the events of Star Wars Jedi Apprentice: The Dark Rival wich was written by Jude Watson and published back in 1999.Haven't read the book but planning on going through with it since I finished the previous one, The Rising Force, which serves as a prequel for the Dark Rival.Qui-Gon Jinn and his padawan, Xanatos are training and the master is trying to teach the young padawan the ways of the force, of course Xanatos is very reminescent in many ways to young Anakin Skywalker because he has some personal problems as well which opens the way for him to the darker side of the force. He has anger, fear in him and mostly he has his 'own' mind to say that because we know Jedis are trained to obey their masters and not question them.
As the first issue I would've expected a bit more but overall I was very satisfied with it.Maybe more personal conversations or monologues would've been nice because the events are set up now, the action was more than enough for start but somehow, like I've said before, it lacked in personal stuff.
I won't complain about the art,I loved it and personally, fit the era and the style of the script and story. The cover is something terrific. Love it!Absolutely.
So for now I'll go with a 3.5 out of possible 5 and wait for the second issue to come out and see where the series is heading than I'll see if it's really an upcoming hit or something that can go extremely wrong if it's not handled well.
