Genesis of the Expanded Universe
While many writers and artists have contributed to taking Star Wars beyond the films, Timothy Zahn's trilogy of novels adapted here by Dark Horse is often considered a milestone. That said, while I enjoy the original three Star Wars films, I haven't been able to enjoy much of the Star Wars media since Return of the Jedi. I gave this comic a try and found it to be fairly good. The main weak point of this first issue is that so much has to be introduced to the reader in one sitting.Thrawn, Joruus C'Baoth, Talon Karrde, and Mara Jade, though now known names to fans had to make their debut. As with any piece of SW fiction there are multiple stories occuring simultaneously and the complexity of the universe has at times been a turn off for some (myself included), here however seems to be a fairly good point for less rabid SW fans to find out what happened to Luke after the Ewok luau.
