What if Lord Snoke was Darth Plagueis?

It's one of the more popular theories.

I'm personally hoping he's just some new threat. We don't need every character to be connected

And I really hope Rey isn't related to anybody too

I think he's Plagueis. He looks like him and the damage to his face would make sense since Palpatine supposedly killed him. I believe Plagueis was supposed to be 8 ft tall so that would also explain his size in the hologram. I believe Palpatine tried killing him in his sleep by bringing the building down on him and assuming it killed him. But with how powerful Plagueis was and his use of the darkside of the force he most certainly could've survived. Probably healing and biding his time until he could return.

I dont really see it since they seem to be trying to avoid the prequels. Plus it doesnt really make much sense for Plagueis to change his name. Id say he's a new character with no relation to Plagueis.

@lone_wolf_and_cub: Palpatine got him drunk and when he fell asleep Palp's tortured him to death. Apparently, with his passing Palpatine felt a huge shift in the force. There was never any assumption about him being dead in the EU. That's what happened in the EU that they say is no longer 'cannon' though, so sure... in the new Star Wars verse it could easily be Plagueis.

Maybe you werent paying attention, but Plagueis is dead.

I remember one of the makers (possibly Abrams himself) mentioned when Yoda talked about how the force connects everyone and anyone instead of just bloodlines.

Snoke isn't Plagueis.

It would be the worst plot twist ever.

Sidious killed Plagueis, and he did so in a manner that left no doubts. Sidious Force lightning him to death.

Even Sidious was very careful afterwards to examine his former master corpse and found no trace of life in it. And although Plagueis had mastered some powerful healing techniques while trying to find a way to gain immortality, truth of the matter is that he never once said he had reached immortality, at best he was only able to heal the wounds that made him use a breathing apparatus.

Saying Snoke is Plagueis is just as likely as saying he's Sidious. After all in the EU Sidious mastered the technique of Essence Transfer, and as such he could've just as easily transfered his essence to another being.

I'm not betting in any of those hypothesis.

@heavenlydarkdragon: @penderor: Saying someone is dead in a fictional universe proves nothing. Pretty sure Luke thought Sidious was dead also and learned he had a clone body later on.

@lone_wolf_and_cub: Yeah, but that clone Sidious is one from the reason why Abrams ignored EU. Its lame and doesnt make since in the concept of the Chosen One story. Sidious said that Plagueis is dead and if SIDIOUS says so, then its probably true.

It would be an interesting way to tie the prequels to the new saga, as they are hardly connected at the moment
