A really good graphic novel about an Imperial Guard
Ever since Star Wars Episode 7 was announce, my love for Star Wars came back but I've never read any of the comics before. But when I heard great things about the "Crimson Empire" comics, I decided to pick up the first volume and I really liked it.
The story is about Imperial Guardsman: Kir Kanos, getting revenge on the people that have killed Emperor Palpatine. But he ends up coming face-to-face with his former friend: Carnor Jax, who has become the galactic emperor and is trying to kill Kir.
I really liked the development between Kir and Carnor because it was interesting to see both of them go from being best friends to enemies.
As for the rest, not really. Mostly because they weren't given a lot of development especially Mirith Sinn. But then again, this is the first volume in a 3-volume storyline. The character development between Kir and Mirith might improve later on.
The art is really great and the characters are nicely drawn and I'm surprised since this is a graphic novel that came out back in 1998.
Another thing I really liked about Crimson Empire Volume 1 is that it was interesting to learn more about Emperor Palpatine A.K.A. Darth Sidious' Imperial Guards because I've always wondered why he has those guards for a long time but now I know.
Overall, "Star Wars: Crimson Empire" Volume 1 is a good graphic novel/comic-book and even though it had some flaws, I am interested in reading the other two volumes.
