    Short summary describing this volume.

Spirou last edited by Billy Batson on 09/05/20 01:26PM View full history

Classic Belgian comic. Early issues of the series bear the extended title "Le Journal de Spirou" on the cover. Collected in Spirou Album.

    General Notes

From 1938-1945 (and the first two issues of 1946), the series originally had a YYYYNN numbering format but with 404 it changed to a sequential numbering. Here they are all indexed in sequential format.

Due to the German invasion of Belgium in 1940, the publication was briefly halted and issues 109 to 122 don't exist. Also, due to paper shortage a few years later during World War II, issues 282 to 337 do not exist either. 1945, the last year of the war, was also effected but much more sporadically with the following unpublished issues: 358, 360, 362, 364, 366, 368, 372 and 375. Note that since the series was at the time still using an annual numbering, no issues are actually skipped (for example, 357 is Yr. 7, No. 7 and 359 is Yr. 7, No. 8) but when the series switched to a sequential numbering, these missing weeks were incorporated into the running total.
