Spider-Man, Fan 4, Darwyn Cooke and J. Bone. Merry Chirstmas all!
There is just something about a Darwyn Cooke comic that is appealing. I would like to think how strong of an artist vision he has and the accessibility of his cartoonish style. Cooke did the inks to this comic, but his friend J. Bone does a great job keeping to the cartoonish style we all know from Darwyn. I really enjoyed Spider-Man's Tangled Web: Twas the fight before Christmas, it is a kid friendly story that has that silver age flavour long forgotten. Classic thought bubbles that most mainstream comics avoid now are a nice touch. The thought bubbles seemed to be taboo after the success of Alan Moore's Watchmen in the 80s.
This story is funny in a non-serious way. There is Spider-man and a fake Spider-Man and a whole lot of mess in Macy's. It is a story where one of the Spider-Mans is controlled and causes trouble, while the other saves the day. Very silly and very enjoyable. This is not a story where canon heavy fans should read. It is just a fun read. The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and a handful of other Superheroe plus Darwyn Cooke and J. Bone. All added together to make a very Merry Christmas.Merry Christmas!
