I personally would like to see Brian Michael Bendis write the main Spider-Man book.

Mike Costa. He's doing a great job with Web Warriors and seems to nail Spider-Gwen better than her actual creative team can manage, he's also great with Spider-Ham and Mayday so I think he could write a down-to-earth Peter. I'd have said Robbie Thompson a while back but I don't like his work on the "Spidey" book all that much.

Christopher Yost, Matt Fraction, and Mark Waid are all great choices. Maybe Christos Gage, and the idea of Scott Snyder writing Spider-Man comics is rather intriguing.

Someone new and young, Spider-Man works best as a coming up hero to reflect modern times, these old farts wrote spidey when they were in there prime as writers and relatively young.

(Damn, I wasn't able to post here earlier. Wth. Luckily my post was saved :D)
I disagree with putting Bendis solely because of his work on Ult. Spidey. Just because he wrote a good 1610, where he basically created the continuity, doesn't mean he would do a good job on 616. But I can absolutely understand where people are coming from.

But answering the question (I'm gonna assume it's just with current writers, sooo...):

That's a pretty sweet list, I'm going with that as well.

How about an actual writer who isn't familiar with Spider-Man and just goes on by sheer imagination.

Probably in the minority here considering how much negativity the notion of him being the next writer is generating, but I personally would like to see Bendis take on 616 Pete. He had a pretty good run with Ultimate Peter, and I've really enjoyed his take on Iron Man so far.

I wouldn't mind Bendis writing 616 Peter full-time either. Spider-Men wasn't at all bad and he's been getting sound praise for repairing 616 Mary Jane's character after years of neglect and abuse from the Spider-office.

I agree. He did a good job with Earth-1610!Peter until his very death. It'd be interesting to see his take on 616, also he's was seen in the last page of Miles' first issue in 616.

I would love Yost to take over. His Scarlet Spider run was amazing, so I'm pretty sure he can handle other Spider-characters.

@kcomicfan I don't know about @currentthor2015, but for me, I wouldn't want Bendis to write the new ASM series because he basically already did this in his USM series. I mean, these 11 years and over 160 issues were some of the greatest spider-man stories I have ever read, which got me into reading comics at all, but I don't know if he could do the same for ASM. After reading the end of Miles Morales' last series and Ultimate End, as well as his disappointing Guardians of the Galaxy and All-New X-Men series, I have lost a lot of faith in Bendis, and this is from a guy who grew up on one of his masterpieces. I feel if Bendis were to start writing ASM after Snott, he may retread his most common troupes as he did in SM #1 as well as bringing the same style and craft he has used recently to make Guardians, X-Men and the Ultimate Universe pathetic and abysmal.

@m12: Couldnt have said it better myself, I also read his old runs on Ultimate Spider-Man when it was Peter and really liked them, but now he is just terrible. Plus if he did have anything to do with writing Peter Parker now, he would just turn the book into a promotion book for Miles and likely always be showing how Miles is better than him, just because Bendis created Miles and wanks him to high heaven, like how his venom blasts insta beat all his enemies but in other books Miles is in he wont use it or its weak because they know its just a stupid Bendis thing.

Bendis was good, but he has not really changed his writing style in 16 years, and he has not really been good in the last ten years. However, I would rather him on Spider-Man then Iron Man.
