Who do you want to see in the reboot of the 'Spider-Man' film?
Okay, so by now, I am sure you guys are well aware that Sony has decided to reboot the Spider-Man franchise and take Peter Parker back to his high school days. I know a lot of people were saying that the success of Brian Michael Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man may have inspired producers (since it takes place in a High School setting), although I doubt it. What Ultimate Spider-Man does do, however, is give us a good idea of what kind of characterization we can look forward to. Now, while I may not necessarily be on board with a teenage, fresh-faced Peter Parker, I admit that the advantage of reworking the franchise to start in High School would be that audiences would then have the opportunity to grow with the characters. It would also give the writer a chance to stretch his legs as opposed to being confined to the limited number of directions he could take the story. We have seen a grown-up Peter Parker, maybe it really is time to bring a new angle to the character?
So here is the big question, who could you see as the next Peter Parker? What about Mary-Jane Watson?
What about Robert Pattinson? Sure, he may not look like he's in high school, but he would certainly bring a lot of high school-ers to the movies! Who knows, maybe then we can make Morbius the first Spider-Man villain.
I admit I really can not see Michael Cera as the next Peter Parker. Sure he has had some experience playing high school student's in 'Juno,' 'Superbad' and more recently, 'Youth In Revolt,' but Cera may be a little bit too nerdy to play Parker, who maintains an edge of cool. What do you think?
There is also Zac Efron, who happens to have a lot of experience when it comes to playing a High School student, considering his role in 'High School Musical.' Please, he's got great hair that looks like it won't get messed up under the Spider-Man mask! Bringing Efron on board may also help target a new demographic of teenage girls!
What if Miley Cyrus was the next Mary Jane Watson? She has some acting experience with her role in the 'Hannah Montana Movie,' and she is the perfect age for the role, right? Give the girl some red hair dye and you have yourself a Mary Jane!
Can you see Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen as MJ? With the recent casting of actress Blake Lively in the upcoming Green Lantern film, perhaps the CW is a good place to start looking at fresh, young talent?
What about Alexis Bledel? She has the right hair color! Well, sometimes. Not only that, but she is familiar with the superhero movie genre, having appeared in ' Sin City.' She is also known for her role as 'Rory' in Gilmore Girls,' so she could be the perfect fit!
As fans of these characters, who do you guys want to see on the big screen, and what characters would you like to see in the film's reboot?
