    Hi,

Just wondering how good superior spiderman is, whenever I go to the comic book store and a superior spiderman is on sale, it seems that everybody picks up a copy. I like spiderman but the idea of doc oc being spidey did not hit me. Is it a good read?

I'm enjoying it so far. It's a new twist on things which is nice and if you haven't read it there will be a couple surprises for you.

I've read #1, for me it was 50-50, i did not like the ending where the peter parker showed up in some for of a ghost or spirit. Is there an explanation on that? I got confuse as to whether the writer just want to do that or what?

@papabearg4d: Because it's not good. There is actually nothing good about the series. If you really want to read something new and different SSM is not the book you should be looking into. Check out Saga or something.

@papabearg4d: I must admit I don't like SSM. What about Scarlet Spider? Have you tried it yet? Good "spidey" stories.

This is accurate. It's not just that the idea behind the story is crap, Slott's writing on Spider-Man is just poor in every sense of the word.

Before the title went on the shelves I thought that it will be good and that the story has potential in it but after the first three issues I see that Slott is currently making a story full of crap and I enjoy Yost's portrayal of the character in Avenging Spider-Man more.

The idea could in theory work, but only if the writer went 100% into it. Make it Ock as Spider-Man, make him a plain and simple villain, make him the menace that everyone has always thought of Spider-Man is. Showcase the real differences between Pete and Otto.

But Slott is too scared to go there so we get "what if Spider-Man was kind of a jerk?". Which isn't really worth doing an entire story arc about in my opinion.

Certainly if you are interested feel free to check it out, but don't expect to be amazed.

It still feels a little too early to say. It's been interesting in some respects, though I also found ghost Peter really silly, and after a couple of issues of that I'm starting to wonder how long they can keep this up.

It will only last as long as the sales keep up, the second they drop Pete will get his body back.

I see, Ill give it a try, I'll look for a trade or see if a couple of buddy of mine has it.

At first, I was interested in Superior thinking that Spiderman would be a villain since Otto is Spiderman. But now that you mentioned it, it seems as if this superior spidey is just an idea that "what id spiderman was a jerk?".

It was silly, it doesn't make sense to me, I'm not surprise that they still are doing it, what would be a surprise is if it last long.

@papabearg4d: If you're a big fan of classic Otto like me then you probably won't like how he's played. Slott seems to only get the arrogant part of the character. -.-

So I'm not reading Superior Spider-Man myself.

Thanks for the input, yes I am a huge fan of classic Otto. It seems that the writer is the problem as suggested by others as well, I think they are not going to change the writer anytime soon though since it sells well.

Yeah, a buddy of mine said the same thing but he decided to drop it at the 3rd issue, haven't talked to him yet so I haven't gotten his opinion on it. He was excited when the first issue came out though.

read it, it's the most fun spidey's been in a while. i personally love the doc ock dialogue. dan slott is a decent writer. people give him crap and while some of it may be deserved, he's more hit than miss in my book.

its good, they took a chance on a very...risky idea and it paid off for the most part, right now otto is wearing some of the most ridiculous plot armor imaginable but its fine, its new. But personally i hope this doesnt last more than a year.

true true. unless otto shows some growth over the issues, this plot line will get stale fast. a year sounds like plenty of time. i'm actually thinking this might stick around though even after they bring back Parker and ASM. Then Marvel will have all of us by the balls with two (three if anyone is reading Avenging like me) Spidey titles (not to mention Scarlet or Venom). This is all an elaborate plan to make us to pay more for the web head :/

I'm enjoying reading Superior Spider-Man and despite the fact that it seems lots of people hate the book, it was the top selling comic in January
