I enjoyed them a lot, especially this latest one. Vulture was scary! My only concern would be how much Iron Man will influence the story. By this I mean that Peter is a genius and resourceful individual and I would not take kindly to his intellect being underutilized or that Iron Man is the one who makes Peter's suits, web shooters, etc. All of those stuff has to be engineered and made by Peter himself,

@ursaber: I agree. But based off what they've shown in the trailers, it looks like Peter is going to lose everything Tony Stark gave him, therefore forcing Peter to be more self-reliant.

I hope we see Spidey take down the Vulture without any help from Iron Man.

It damn well better be. It would be such a turn off to see Spidey need Iron Man to defeat his own rogues gallery, UNACCEPTABLE!

Just saw the newest Homecoming trailer. So it appears that not only can Peter not build any of the tech he built in the comics, but he can't even go through the suits programming without freaking Ganke/Ned doing it for him either. Is there anything that this Spider-Man can do on his own? Because he might as well be Ned's sidekick at this point, let alone Iron Man's.

Well... it can all be one big lesson. In the first half of the movie he's being given everything on a silver plate and thus making him reckless and overconfident. When he gets in over his head he'll lose all the shiny Stark upgrades and rely on his own homemade gear and skills. Then by the end of the movie he'll come into his own.

    It shouldnt stop lol

Tell me about it. The mocking is funny in and of itself but that poster is a violation of the movie that takes away the focus which should be Spider Man. Why is it necessary to have both Iron Man and Tony Stark as well as Happy Hogan in the cover and Peter being smaller than them.

'Spider-Man' Spinoff: Silver Sable, Black Cat Movie Finds Director with 'Secret Life of Bees' Filmmaker (Exclusive)

'Silver and Black' has an October 2018 release date.

Gina Prince-Bythewood, who wrote and directed The Secret Life of Bees, will direct Silver and Black, Sony’s Spider-Man offshoot that centers on characters Silver Sable and the Black Cat.

Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal are producing the project, which has an October 2018 release date and is planning for a fall start.

Chris Yost, who worked on the upcoming Marvel movie Thor: Ragnarok, is writing the most recent draft. Lisa Joy, the co-creator of HBO’s Westworld, also worked on the script.

Silver Sable, created by Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz in 1985, is a mercenary who runs a company that hunts war criminals. The character has been both antagonist and ally to Spider-Man.

Black Cat, an acrobatic cat burglar whose real name is Felicia Hardy, has a long and tangled romantic history with Spider-Man in the comics. The character was cut from scripts for the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, and a "Felicia Hardy" (played by Felicity Jones) briefly appeared in Amazing Spider-Man 2, though no Black Cat connection was ever made explicit.

    5. Spider-Man Is Iron Man's B*tch

From a business perspective, you'd have to be an idiot not to realise that having Iron Man appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming is a smart move on Sony and Marvel's part. Not only is both the character and Robert Downey Jr. a huge box office draw, but it's probably also the most effective way to make it clear that Peter Parker is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, the way their relationship is being handled isn't the best.

It's clear that Peter idolises his new mentor, but Iron Man replays that by treating him the same way he did that kid in Iron Man 3. That's not bad for a few laughs, but Spider-Man deserves more respect than that. He'll hopefully earn that by the end of the movie, but having his costume confiscated and a number of its abilities made off limits is far from the best way to handle the character's reintroduction in this movie and him reporting to Iron Man hopefully ends sooner rather than later.

    4. Peter Parker's Fancy New Costume

While it's understandable that Marvel Studios wanted to shake up Spider-Man's status quo following five movies of pretty much the exact same thing, Peter Parker's fancy new costume just doesn't sit right with me. There's no doubt going to be plenty of laughs to be had as we see the youngster interacting with the A.I. that Tony Stark has built into the costume, while his gadgets look undeniably cool.

However, somewhere along the way, Marvel appears to have forgotten the essence of what makes Spidey great. That is the fact he comes up with his own solutions and inventions, and while I know it would be impossible these days for a high school student to develop cutting edge tech, this just feels like a lazy storytelling decision. It could be redeemed once Peter puts on the homemade costume, but not if he's back in Stark's suit by the time the credits roll.

    3. Spider-Man Is A Loser

Peter Parker has always been a bit of a loser, but that's what makes him so endearing. When he puts the Spider-Man costume on, however, things change and he becomes a cockier, brash hero who will do anything to save the day. Sure, he doesn't always get it right and makes mistakes, but Spider-Man: Homecoming appears to be portraying the wall-crawler as a joke.

Before I go any further, I do think that will change by the time the credits roll, but seeing him treated like a numbskull by Tony Stark and helping old ladies cross the street and stopping bicycle thieves may not be quite as funny as Marvel thinks. Hell, the trailer makes it clear that he can't even put an end to a bank robbery without screwing up pretty much an entire neighbourhood, and while him tackling street level crime is a smart move, it just doesn't seem like the young - and dumb - hero can even get that right.

Commentary: OK. This one is a little divisive for me. First off, Peter is just STARTING his Spider Man career so he shouldn't be flawless coming out of the gate. Both Spidey and Peter make mistakes and screw up but in the end those mistakes help him and in the end he wins. If they make Peter flawless right out of the gate, then he'll be turned into Miles Morales. That being said its a delicate balance between when he makes the mistakes and when he does succeed.

    2. A Shared, But Non-Shared, Spider-Man Universe

This isn't necessarily Marvel's fault (more Sony's), but it's still worth a mention. The news that Tom Hardy will be suiting up as Venom is massively exciting, but it's disappointing that his Eddie Brock will more than likely never get to cross paths with Tom Holland's Peter Parker. Marvel can't stop Sony from launching a series of Spider-Man Universe spinoffs because they want to make money, but you'd think Kevin Feige would have sat down with Amy Pascal and figured out how to make the paths of these characters cross.

Couldn't Spider-Man come across the alien suit during the events of Avengers: Infinity War and have it somehow come into the possession of Eddie Brock? Sure, it wouldn't be exactly like the comic books, but if Sony realised that they needed to join the MCU to make Spidey succeed, can they not see that Venom should at least share Peter's world?

    1. One Too Many Ties To The Avengers

Spider-Man being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is obviously amazing (and long overdue) so it seems almost silly to complain about the fact he's entrenched in that world now. However, everything we've seen from Spider-Man: Homecoming points to the reboot being crammed with mostly unnecessary references to this shared universe.

While I'll give Marvel credit for finding a way to tie The Vulture's plan to The Avengers and Tony Stark, there's really no need for that and it makes Spidey feel like something of an afterthought as he basically cleans up a mess Earth's Mightiest Heroes are too important or busy to deal with. It's going to be interesting seeing if future villains end up also making use of salvaged tech upgraded by The Tinkerer because if that is the case, we can probably expect this franchise to remain firmly tied to Iron Man and company for the foreseeable.

There are some interesting moments. I'm disinclined to make any judgments until I've seen the actual film, other than that Ned Leeds is inappropriately placed here. As far as Sony goes, the last I read their movie division is in serious financial trouble if they don't start having some real box office successes. I don't see how their strategy of trying to build out a movie universe from just a sliver of the Marvel Comics universe will work out the way they hope. They need a strong brand or very well-known characters for that to work out, and that's not the hand they're holding right now.

RUMOR: Some Interesting Story Details For “Silver And Black”

    https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/05/28/rumor-interesting-story-details-silver-black/

Sony Pictures is doing something interesting with their Spider-Man movies — they’re making Spider-Man movies without Spider-Man. We talked about the director announcement for Silver and Black earlier this week, so now it’s time for the rumor mill to kick into high gear.

As always we stress, this is a RUMOR that may or may not pan out. If it does and you read this article, you’re ahead of the curve. If it doesn’t, well, then we get a different movie.

Our rumor comes in the form of story details from Splash Report. There are some interesting names here:

“Here are some details about the story: Seven years after Mendel Stromm (a.k.a. Robot Master) and his two henchmen (The Scorpion and The Tarantula) killed her father, Silver Sable is hired by the government to find Felicia Hardy. The Black Cat, a master hacker and thief, has apparently stolen valuable secret information. She’s hiding in the lawless and dangerous triple frontier area between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil.

Once there, Sable ask her old contact Dmitri Smerdyakov (a.k.a. The Chameleon) to locate her. But it seems, the government are not the only ones looking for the Black Cat. It seems Felicia had made a deal Stromm to save her father from a Russian prison and she’s been genetically enhanced. Now, the mad scientist wants his prized experiment back because his financier (cough Norman Osborn cough) wants a return on his investment.

There’s no appearance or mention of Peter Parker or Spider-Man.

Also in the story: Dominic Fortune, Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman), Roxxon Oil, Sergei Kravinoff (Kraven the Hunter), Lonnie Lincoln (Tombstone) and Charles Standish.”

(Scoop sent in by Colonel George Dillon)

The one that grabs my attention is Jessica Drew, AKA Spider-Woman. Jessica is a great character and one that deserves not only her own movie, but maybe her own miniseries; the fantastic seven-book arc done by Brian Michael Bendis in 2014 after Secret Invasion is perfect for a Netflix series. To see her show up as a side character annoys me on a fan level. The same could be said about Kraven the Hunter, who is also an interesting enough character to carry his own movie or series, not just a cameo in some villain team-up story.

The lack of Spider-Man is not surprising, considering where Sony is going with these characters. But seeing that Norman Osborn could show up is interesting, if nothing else.

Silver and Black will be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and is set to be released in October 2018.

    @animehunter:

Wow. Sounds like they're overcompensating but if this movie actually does release with all those mentioned elements, it will be very bloated.

Imagine, the use of so many Spider Man villains in a non Spider Man movie. How insulting.

I can see the Venom movie sorta succeeding, but unless they compartmentalize Sable and Black Cat, and choose very attractive and talented actresses to play the two silver headed vixens, then that movie is more likely to fail.

Even more if these movies don't have a connection to Spider Man himself.

Too many eggs in one basket without the most important element Spider-Man. I smell disaster but I hope I'm wrong.

I know this is goanna sound wierd but...I'm pretty okay with the route they are taking with the Spider-Man Homecoming film.

I've thought about it and I kinda get where they wanna go with this and why. I just hope my expectations are what will happen...they tend to not but lets hope.

I would love to see characters like Black Cat and Spider-Woman in movies, but not like this. This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. A super powered Black Cat? No! Scorpion and Tarantula being agents of Stromm sounds like a weak attempt to put as many villains in a movie as possible (and we know where that leads... cough cough Spider-Man 3). And no Spider-Man at all? No!

This is going to make character rights even more complicated, and confuse which universe Silver & Black is actually occurring in (MCU or a new Sony cinematic universe).

Thank god she isn't MJ @.@

Zendaya confirmed that herself a while ago.

I like the idea that she's Michelle Toomes. Really curious to see how it plays into the story if Michelle finds out Peter's Spider Man and if she does know Adrian is Vulture.

BTW Vulture looks SICK! Which means super wickedly awesome. Though I feel the wings could've been a little better.

@ursaber: She 'confirmed' but people were still heavily theorising that they were just hiding the big reveal. Assuming she was indeed MJ, it would make sense they wouldn't spoil it like that. Plus I think its clear she likes teasing/create doubts, even saw her wink after denying it once. All in all I'm glad it's pretty much 100% confirmed.

Yeah but the one I'm talking about occurred recently, I think last month long after the initial reveal and controversy.

Sandman already had her daughter and motivation in Spider Man 3. It was undoubtedly the best part of the movie. Sandman.

So, how's life and work? :)

Ya, so doing it again but in a different concept would be fun, especially since SM3 was awful!

SM3 was awful but like I said, everything Sandman was great, well except for that massive sand giant turd at the end, but the character himself was top notch and compelling.

In any case we won't get Sandman and his daughter but we will get Vulture and his daughter or niece or whatever.
