@animehunter More refreshing Peter and MJ goodness, only thing that annoys me is the comic actually dating itself by referring to the current year. Comics should avoid doing that.

lol

i have concerns of that nature as well

the comic may result in being pure fan fiction from a fan rather than an actual Spider-Man story

the only thing that really hooks me is that according to them, this is a Spider-Man and Mary Jane Watson together story against this new villain.

@ursaber: I hope it's good, but at the very least, at least it's interesting seeing that his son would want to write Peter and MJ together.

I think something like this has been said before here, but the three Spider-Man actors and movie franchises pretty much encompass the foremost eras of Spider-Man

The Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy represents the Pre-OMD era

The Andrew Garfield ASM Duology represents the Post-OMD Brand New Day era

The Tom Holland MCU Spider-Man ongoing represents the Ultimate Spider-Man series

Those previews definitely help inform fan theories that MJ will be more involved with Peter's life post-issue 25, that'll be her "decision", to put herself in the line of fire more often

Centidemon was officially named in ASM#24

It is indeed "Kindred"

Gotta say, as a Spider-Man and Mary Jane fan, I am looking forward to this five part story regardless of the inexperience of the writer.

I just think of it as, imagine if they allowed just a random comic book fan take a chance on writing their favorite superhero. Who of us would not want to do that!?

Its looking promising so far.

It'd be cool if Peter rebuilt her web shooters from the Web of Romance one shot.

My Quote For FNSM:

Like the issue. Spidey and Prowler were the best parts. But, other than that I Do NOT CARE about The Rumor. Really, she is a really uninteresting character and really boring. She started off really interesting as a regular old lady being relatable and real in her character. Now, all of a Sudden she's just this super old lady with incredible strength like she's awesome or whatnot and I'm like,No. No. This lady is already boring. She was interesting back in issue 1. And now, here she is as this....whatever she is. I feel like Tom Taylor is trying to make this character awesome because she's like an old lady or something when she was already awesome back in issue # 1. And now, here it seems like he's trying too hard. And what the heck was that crowdfunding thing? I mean, yeah, they could be cheap. But, this was just....yeah...anyway, good issue. But,this did not need The Rumor and whatever this was.

I Really do not like The Rumor. She should just go already. She was a mistake the moment Taylor brought her in the second issue. She was already fine in the first issue. And now, it seems that Tom Taylor is trying to make her be this awesome character because Old Ladies and whatever agenda he might have when really she was already awesome on the first issue to be gin with. He made Aunt May awesome in her moments. And she doesn't even have any powers. Why not make her this normal person. If you want to tie her into this super stuff, why not just bring any of her relatives along. A son or a daughter or a grandson or granddaughter or any of the niece's or nephews. Bringing her into this was a mistake. And now we have to hear her stories with Cap? Just please bring me more Spidey and story and less with her and what to do with her. Just please give us a good story instead of whatever this is.

ComiXology Bestseller List, 28th June 2019 – War Is Over

Posted by Rich Johnston June 28, 2019 0 Comments

Once again, Matthew Snyder braves the digital divide to bring us the best of what’s selling on tablets and phones worldwide… Welcome to the ComiXology Bestseller list, your guide to see how well your favorite titles are selling digitally. Every week I’ll post the ranking of every new title, plus a ranking of the best selling volumes & graphic novels. As always, I hope you find it interesting and informative.

Now THAT is how to stick a landing.

Report Ad

When War of the Realms first started, I asked everyone if they were feeling the same sense of excitement as previous Marvel events. The voters overwhelmingly voted Nay (74%) over Yay (26%). That may have been a bit of an overreaction for a title that debuted at No. 3, but Marvel events usually come with very high expectations.

Well WOTR has finally lived up to those expectations. The final issue has landed at No. 1, only the second Marvel title to win the crown since Fantastic Four #1 in August. But was it enough to beat DC in the Top 10 battle?

The last several months have followed a predictable pattern: DC easily wins Weeks 1, 2 & 4 every month, while Marvel barely squeaks by in Week 3. Can Marvel break the pattern? It’ll be tough. Heroes in Crisis may have wrapped up, but the final issue of Batman: Damned released this week, not to mention the usual lineup lead by Action and Detective Comics. This will be close one. Let’s look at the score:

  • Marvel: 29
  • DC: 26

Have some ale and lift the hammer, Marvel. You are worthy.

And the first sip of ale should go to Jason Aaron, who is this week’s MVP with three titles in the Top 10: War of the Realms, Avengers and Thor. Now might be a good time to ask C.B. for a raise.

But as a comic fan, I must say love competitive weeks like this. DC and Marvel both brought their A-game, and the Top 10 came down to the wire. The industry is better when we have weeks like this, because competition fuels creativity.

New Issue Rankings:

  1. War of the Realms #6
  2. Action Comics #1012
  3. Batman: Damned #3
  4. Avengers #20
  5. Detective Comics #1006

Batman Damned tops the Top Ten list at FFF this week. Even though it had more than a few delays, people still came out to pick up the last installment in one of the most controversial comics of the last few years. Amazing Spider-Man is maintaining solid numbers as it was our #2 top seller outselling Detective Comics once again. At the start of Rebirth, anything slightly Bat-related reigned on top, but things are starting to change. Fantastic Four has also seen a small bump, possibly related to a certain secret variant. We aren’t marking them up as the ratios are pretty close but we also haven’t seen a huge run on any of the issues either. Conan is continuing to sell well with this week’s Savage Sword hitting number #5. As for the rest of the Top Ten, DC and Marvel are sharing it pretty consistently and evenly. While DC usually Tops the list, Marvel has kept a good showing with an average of 4-5 titles selling well enough to make the list.

—-

DC took first place in our store this week with Batman Damned #3, but after that, DC could only place two other books on our top ten–Detective in 9th place and Action in 10th place. Seven Marvels took their places in our top ten, along with Spawn #298 from Image. Readers tell us they’re already bored with this whole Leviathan storyline and ready for something else–and Year of the Villain doesn’t seem to be the something else they’re looking for.

—-

The last issue of Batman Damned FINALLY came out, and to surprisingly little fanfare. Sure, it still led sales, but not with the numbers that the previous two issues managed. I suspect it’s because it’s so off-schedule that a lot of folks had no idea when- or if- it was actually coming out. I think that the #1 comment I’ve heard this week is “Huh, didn’t know that was out”. Otherwise, it was business as usual, with War of the Realms finishing strong (and a lot of customers claiming it was a blast to follow along) and Star Wars Age of Rebellion Darth Vader out-performing every other AoR book because, well, Darth Vader.

—-

Batman Damned #3 was the runaway hit of the week with everything else being a distant #2-10. Saw many new faces in the stores as other local shops evidently ran out?? (seems odd for a book that we’ve had so much time to get the numbers correct on – perhaps they got tired of all the #2’s they got stuck with after DC decided not to reprint #1 and cut their numbers a bit too low on #3 – who knows)

—-

Something for everyone this week, though not a lot of spectacular books, still ended up with a very strong Summer Wednesday.

—-

Batman Damned did really well for being so late and took our top spot. A lot of customers were shocked to see it on the stands.

—-

The far and away best seller this week was BATMAN DAMNED #3, concluding the story that was launched to much fanfare thanks to some poorly-shadowed Bat-anatomy. In a distant second place, we have another big conclusion with WAR OF THE REALMS #6.

The rest of the list is a pretty rote selection of usual suspects: DETECTIVE, FANTASTIC FOUR, FLASH. Spidey manages to pop up twice, with both AMAZING and FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD selling well.
