Thing Won't Let Me Expand In Life Story. I Can't Understand What's Going On.

Edit: Just Checked This And.....No.....Just....No...Come On, Chip. No One Needs This...Just...No...Please Have Peter Be With Mary Jane....What Is Up With People On Them These Days?.....

Can we just stop giving Zdarsky any attention for this glorified OOC toilet paper?

I heard praise everywhere for Zdarky's Life Story, including here, then in the last issue he has Peter and MJ separated and suddenly he is a horrible writer, the comic book fanbase must be one of the most ruthless and unforgiving fans, I mean, don't get me wrong, I am the biggest fan of Peter & MJ together, but you can't bash a writer solely for separating them, I haven't even heard comments about the actual issue.

I went to see reviews and most of them say that this has been a great book and that the latest issue was still awesome, I went to ComicBookHerald and the 3rd issue was the one with the better rating, both by critics and fans, so I think their separation might be somewhat clouding the judgements, and the story isn't even finished yet, I am sure Peter and MJ will be back together by the end of this, there is no other way this can/will go, just relax guys and let the story develop.

I haven't read any issue btw, I'm waiting for all of them to come out so I can buy them and read them all in one sit-down.

The whole Peter and Jessica thing is literally this

@thor_parker82 Maybe, but Chip clearly doesn't understand Peter's character. This is a life story, but he's not making any of the sound and responsible life choices that we know previous versions of an older Peter has taken to keep his family close. Any real version of Peter would have tried to win back MJ and the kids right after Peter's Aunt died. That burden has been lifted from him, he can get them back if he were willing, but no he's moved on to Jessica and it's been years, his kids are growing up without a father. When Peter and MJ were seperated in 616, it took them mere months to get back together.

And I've read plenty of comments savaging Life Story#3, particularly on Crawl Space and Read Comics Online, who are not so hoodwinked by the shill Marvel media machine and the easily entertained.

In All Honesty, You Would Say That Peter Would Be Incredibly Guilty Prior To The Case Of Aunt May. But, I Would Still Love For Peter To Go Back With Mary Jane After A Mere Months. Would've Loved For Him To Make A Long Distance Relationship Call With His Friends Protecting Hos Family. I Really Would've Preferred That Over Him Being In A Fling With Jessica Jones. I Mean, Yeah, They Went To The Same School Together And Was His Crush, But, Since Then, She Moved Pass That And Went With Luke. Why'd She Have To Be Involved All Of A Sudden? If Anything, Why Not Felicia Hardy Or Even Jennifer Walters Since They've Had The Most Chemistry Of The Superheroine Relationships? If Anything, Seeing The Latter Would've Made Me A Little Bit Happier. But, Really Hope That Both Peter And MJ Get Back Together Again.

Also Ben Changed His Last Name To Reilly Since He Left With Gwen As Ben And Helen Parker. I Wonder If Something Happened Between Them.

My only real problem with Life Story 3 is that, they did make Peter somewhat more capable and responsible, particularly with that radar thing for MJ to keep track of him, but that despite that he still screws up big time.

That and that Peter rejects the idea out of hand of putting May in a home which she clearly needs since Peter himself never looks after her, and because of how Peter and MJ didn't manage to overcome their predicament and work things out.

Edit: and what is the Peter Jessica thing?

@ursaber Doesn't matter, I was mistaken, I thought Peter and Jessica had nothing in common, Marvelman cleared that up by reminding me of their high school history.

Yep. Freaking Awesome. Looks Like Alot Of Fun. Between This, UA3, And Avengers Project, I'm Really Excited For What's In Store For E3 Especially The Last One Of The Three I've Mentioned.

Ron Frenz confirmed on Facebook that Sensational Spider-Man is coming back for a one-off issue, and he and DeFalco have contributed a ten page story to it with Sal Buscema

No Caption Provided

Ron Frenz These panels are from a 10 page story that will be included in a Sensational Spider-Man one-shot being done as part of Marvel's anniversary celebration! DeFalco script and Buscema inks! Thanks to Editor Nick Lowe for getting the band back together if only for a short ditty!

SO FREAKING AWESOME!!!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! That Said, Haven't Seen Buscema Do Any Work In A Long Time. Guys Like Frenz, Romita Sr, Savuik, Sharp, Colleen Doreen, And A Couple Other Classics Have. But, Buscema Hasn't Done Any Work Since The 90s. Would Like To See Him Return For A Bit To Do A Spider-Man Related Project. Maybe One Relating To Osborn Or Something.

Hope So. I Mean, It Would Be Understandable Of They Have Plans For Her In ASM. But, With How She Showed Up In The First Issue, I Thought They Would Do Something More With Her Here. Hope They Give Us Something Here.

Top 100 Most-Ordered Comics and Graphic Novels For May 2019 – As Heroes In Crisis and The War Of The Realms Drop Out of the Top Ten

Posted by Rich Johnston June 9, 2019 0 Comments

5

These are the 100 most-ordered comics and graphic novels in the North American direct market serviced by Diamond Comic Distributors in May 2019. We looked at top tens, marketshare and sales drops on Friday, here’s a slightly fuller picture. And while Immortal Hulk #17 did indeed outsell both Batman regular issues for the month, Immortal Hulk #18 did not. Had fewer variant covers. Still a remarkable acheivement for the series though, placing two issues in a crowded top twenty. Notably The War Of The Realms and Heroes In Crisis were both out of the top ten completely, as Walking Dead was also pushed almost out of the top thirty, with Uncanny, Action Comics, Star Wars and Flash, far better performers in previous months are now all out of the top thirty. And no one talk about Wolverine Infinity Watch… oh, no one is. Might be the problem.

And watch new printings of Umbrella Academy collections come rocketing back into the charts. Finally. Dark Horse dropped the ball there a little…

Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, 9th June 2019 – ‘We Did Not Order Enough Walking Dead To Meet Demand’’

https://www.bleedingcool.com/2019/06/09/bleeding-cool-bestseller-list-9th-june-2019-walking-dead/

This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the “Wednesday Warriors”, those who can’t wait till the weekend to get this week’s comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion. And for all but one store, Heroes In Crisis was their best seller by far. Amazing Spider-Man continues its rise as does Fantastic Four and Criminal sticks it’s nose in for a look-see…

Top ten bestselling comics of the week

  1. DCeased #2
  2. Batman #72
  3. Walking Dead #192
  4. The War of the Realms #5
  5. Justice League #25
  6. Savage Avengers #2
  7. Incredible Hulk: Last Call
  8. Black Cat #1
  9. Green Lantern #8
  10. Uncanny X-Men #19

Thanks to the following retailers:

Rodman Comics, Ankeny, Iowa.

Dr. No’s Comics & Games Superstore of Marietta, Georgia.

Famous Faces & Funnies of West Melbourne, Florida.

Ssalefish Comics, Winston-Salem & Greensboro, North Carolina.

Comix Experience San Francisco, California.

Comix Experience Outpost, San Francisco, California.

Fat Jack’s Comicrypt, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Collector’s Paradise Pasadena, California.

Who had this to say:

Walking Dead #192 would be higher on the list though we did not order enough to meet demand. Did get a reorder in before it was sold out with Diamond at least. DCeased takes the lead for us. Black Cat bombed badly for us. It did not even make our top ten. Is the variant cover craziness leveling off? Shazam sales are increasing thanks to his recent movie. Avengers Endgame bump? Zip. Marvel was slaughtered this week. War of The Realms is the only thing they had going for them this week.

—-

This week was a horse race once again, with DC taking five of the top ten spots in our store, Marvel taking four, and Image taking one with Walking Dead #192. Batman, which has been surpassed by Immortal Hulk for the past few months, was surpassed this week by Incredible Hulk: Last Call, underscoring how disinterested readers are in the tedious storyline stretching out through Batmanright now. DCeased remains DC’s biggest title for a second month; readers enjoyed the first issue and came back in force to see what happens next.

Pretty good week at FFF with a few big books coming out from the Big Two. DCeased has been a customer favorite with 3 beautiful covers catching lots of eyes. Batman is always in the Top 5. This time he’s in the Top 10 twice with the third TMNT crossover hitting #7. Speaking of beautiful covers, Black Cat debuted with several great covers of which most have sold pretty well. We’ll see if the subsequent issues can hold onto at least a few of these sales. Savage Avengers is selling well in its second issue. I’m a little shocked at how well we’ve been selling the Conan spin-off titles. I would’ve thought Marvel would have flooded the market with the FOUR Conan titles they’re putting out but we’ve actually collected a few new subs looking for all of the Cimmerian’s titles. Doomsday Clock managed to squeak into the Top Ten at #9 on its second week. For a book with as many delays as it has had it still sells extremely well. Oh, also the Walking Deadcame out this week and we sold A LOT of copies. It was actually a little slow at first, but once the word started to trickle out we started getting more and more and MORE people coming in looking for the big issue. It’s one of those books that will have a lot of buzz for a long time to come. Now if only the show could figure out what it wanted to do with itself.

—-

DCeased #2 managed to beat out Batman for the top spot in sales here this week, but numbers were high across the board, and I’m going to attribute it to the surge in foot traffic brought on by Walking Dead #192. For the first time in a long time, the title seemed to generate palpable excitement, though I doubt that’ll actually translate to ongoing readers given the events of that issue. Otherwise, Black Catenjoyed a strong start, especially where the variants were concerned, and our own Ssalefish Exclusive J. Scott Campbell variant really helped generate some added hype.

We are excited to see new titles emerging. Little Bird is taking off. Buffy is surprising growing well.

This week is a bit of a refreshing shake-up from what we usually see. WAR OF THE REALMS and BATMAN in the top two spots is hardly surprising, but just under that we’ve got the first issue of BLACK CAT! After that, a venerable title leaps into the top half of the list: WALKING DEAD is selling a lot this week for… reasons. Spoiler-y reasons.

After that we’ve got a couple more expected heavy-hitters with GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY ANNUAL as well as DCEASED. Following that, we ordered much higher than we usually do on TRUE BELIEVERS installments, assuming most folks would be happy to pick up AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 for only a buck. And we were correct!

Life Story has great art but so far its story has been a bit crushing in regards to how Peter has turned out. A family estranged corporate leader.

While there is hope (Tony makes it clear to Peter that Parker Industries is what's keeping him from properly reuniting with MJ, and it's inferred the two still keep in touch since Peter has a recent photo of the growing twins and MJ on his desk), I don't think the reconciliation will be in this particular issue unless Tony does succeed in buying Peter out and something happens between him and Jessica.

I looked at the sales charts and I'm glad Life Story isn't selling too hot.

I too believe Peter and MJ won't reconcile. However they are both separated and well... is it legal for separated peoples to have relations with others and not be considered adultery?

Ironically Life Story 4 takes place in 1995 the same year I was born.

MJ would not begrudge Peter from seeing his own children no matter what. Obviously Peter provides for them and I don't think MJ is without her own money as well considering she inherited a lot from Harry and I don't believe she gave it all to Peter for Parker Industries. But I suspect they won't be reconciled at all, at least not as man and woman.

I remember in the awful Nightwing New Order, Nightwing and Starfire had a son, and even after they solved all the problems they elected to remain separated despite bringing all the crisis to an end. I get the feel for that for Peter and MJ here as well.

No. If Any Of That Happens, Then This Would Probably Be One Of The Worst Things That Comes To Spider-Man Because Of All The BS That Happens With Peter And MJ. Really Do Hope They Reconcile And Spend Their Remaining Moments With Each other. I Mean, 1995 And 2000 Are Close To The JMS Run. And By Issue # 6, We'll Be Seeing Last Stand With Ultimate Spider-Man At The End. Really, The Series Has To End On A High Note For Them. Otherwise, This Would Be Incredibly Disatisfying For What's Suppose To Be A Life Story Of Peter Parker. Cannot Go Out Like This.

May 2019 Comic Book Sales to Comics Shops

Estimated Comics Shipped to North American Comics Shops
Based on Reports from Diamond Comic Distributors

#1 Most Ordered Issue#2 Most Ordered Issue#3 Most Ordered Issue#4 Most Ordered Issue#5 Most Ordered Issue
#1#2#3#4#5

May's orders of comic books and graphic novels in the comics shop market were higher than in any month since the previous October, but not quite good enough to beat May 2018, which had Amazing Spider-Man #800 among other blockbusters in the mix. Retailers ordered almost exactly $47 million in comic books and graphic novels from Diamond Comic Distributors, including 7.27 million comic books; both those figures were down 4% year-over-year versus the previous May, and the year-to-date total slipped slightly into the red for the first time in 2019.

DC's DCeased #1 led new comics periodicals with more than 242,000 copies sold to retailers, making it the year's second-best seller to that point. DC took four of the top five slots on the charts and saw its sales to retailers increase 5% in dollar terms, despite shipping 14 fewer comics than it did in the same month in 2018.

DC's 25-cent Year of the Villain #1 was counted toward its unit market share, which is part of why the unit gap between DC and Marvel was narrow; the market share tables appear to been calculated based on a data set that included as many as a million copies that do not appear in the regular comics charts; the DC issue likely accounts for most of them.

Marvel shipped 118 new comic books to market, an increase of 26 comics over May 2018 and a figure higher than any since Diamond began reporting monthly release counts in 2013. (Second and later printings are not counted as new titles, but $1 reprints like the True Believers books are counted as new and distinct publications. Variants are only counted separately if they're at a different price point as the "regular" version.) While the number of new comics Marvel shipped was likely higher than any in the 21st Century to date, it wasn't an all-time record, as at the peak of the early 1990s comics boom, Marvel shipped 126 new comic books to retailers in August 1993.

Image, meanwhile, cut its offerings even more than DC did versus the previous May, releasing 38 new comic books in the month. Down from 65 comic books in May 2018, it was the publisher's smallest slate since at least 2013. Dark Horse, meanwhile, benefited from Umbrella Academy's Netflix show, placing fourth in dollar market share and landing three of the series' collections in the Top 10 Graphic Novels by units.

Several of the internal benchmarks showed growth year-over-year, with the 50th, 200th, 400th, and 500th place comics all seeing increases versus the books in the same slot in May 2018.

Graphic novel units were down versus the previous May by the same percentage that dollars were up — 5.36% — a gap explained partially by the fact that the $7.99 Tag and Bink Were Here #1 was classified as a graphic novel that month. It led the charts then with more than 16,000 units but didn't translate to as many dollars.

Some publishers are bundled together in Diamond's market shares by the distributors from which it obtains the books. St. Martin's shares include books listed below as being from First Second and Seven Seas; Random House's shares includes Kodansha and Vertical; Hachette includes Disney Hyperion; and SCB includes One Peace.

Nice!!!!! Really Love The Ones From Ottley,Gleason, And Stegman. Also Love The Ones From Smallwood And Hipp. Really Like To See Stegman Work On A Spider-Man Project Soon. Also Hope That Ottley Gets More Involved With ASM. And Is That MJ From Gleason. If So, Then I Really Hope To See What Else He Does With His Take On Her.

Amazing Spider-Man#23

With the force shield down, The Avengers and Fantastic Four arrive to clean up the mess in the park, apprehending the Savage Six, socialite hunters and Arcade. Black Ant is rescued from the Savage Six by Taskmaster.

Felicia brings Billy back to Martha, and stays with them a little while. Curt is shown sleeping in the park and turning back into the Lizard.

Peter arrives at MJ's apartment to find the window broken and blood on the floor..has his nightmare come true? Is MJ dead?

Not so, MJ surprises him with a gashed shoulder. She put her hand through the window tripping up on Peter's clothes. Peter is distraught, but relieved MJ is OK. Tears flow down his face and he embraces her, MJ kisses him. Centidemon/Kindred narrates, saying he never wanted to kill MJ, but protect her from Peter. When she dies, it will be because of Peter just like all the others. He promises Peter that they will soon be alone together (is he even a he? He sounds like an ex. Gwen?)

Kraven's cloned heir buries his father and finds a note instructing him to carry on as the official Kraven. The clone basically becomes Kraven in every way, from hair cut to attire. A post-credit scene reveals The Chameleon paying his respects to Kraven at his grave

Centidemon also refers to MJ as Peter's "true love". Cebulski BTFO

@zariusii: Boomerang has turned out to be more trouble than he's worth, what could possibly be the endgame Spencer has in store for him?

Something kinky went on in Symbiote Spider-Man

Mysterio vists Johnny Oom and tells him about what he witnessed in the previous issue, that of Peter's alien costume killing one of his hired heavies. Oom tells him about Felicia Hardy. Peter and Cat have an argument on the roof about Aunt May, Felicia wants him to reveal his identity to her.

She tells her she met May at Uncle Ben's grave. Peter gets annoyed and swings away. Felicia returns to her apartment where Mysterio approaches her and blackmails her into volunteering to take a sample of the symbiotic and bring it to him. If she doesn't comply, he'll reveal her ties to the Kingpin to Spider-Man! She achieves this by seducing Peter in bed (Felicia Fanservice), and uses a scalpel to take a piece of the suit off while Peter is sleeping

@ursaber Never said it wasn't

All in all, this was a good week for Peter Parker Spider-Man comics!

I arguably liked FNSM more than ASM this week, and Aunt May was pretty good there. Now if they can make good on their promise of MJ being prominent in ASM 25, it would all be even better.

ASM is still bi weekly right?

All is right with the world again.

Doc Ock kidnaps Ben Reily, and later draws Spider-Man out for a battle and captures him. We learn May and Ock fell out before her illness and he had thought Ock had retired. Peter finds both Harry and Ben are with him in the lab. Ock runs tests and finds that Peter is the clone and Ben is the real deal. After a skirmish, Harry is killed. Peter hands over all of Parker Industries and the mantle of Spider-Man to Ben. Jessica dumps Peter and he visits an elderly Norman Osborn. Peter tells Norman he knows he's only playing "senile" and that he also knows he's the real Peter Parker...it was all just one final con job from Norman. Norman tries to kill Peter but has a heart attack and dies uttering his utmost contempt for Peter. Peter travels to Portland where he reunites with Mary Jane and his kids

@zariusii:

So, Ben Reilly will be Spider-Man in the next two issues huh, or will the real Peter Parker make his return?

Edit: Did Gwen Clone die?
