And again, I refer you to ASM Family Business to get more insight into Peter's parents. If Zdarsky is going to touch upon that subject I hope he does it without actually bringing them back in any manner. Something along the lines of Teresa and Peter talking and investigating about that.

Poor Aunt May indeed. She wants to meet her granddaughter before she dies but she's not going to die because she's an anchor to keeping Peter in his man boy state of being and she's never meeting her granddaughter. Life is cruel. She should die and be with Uncle Ben.

I said I was aware, I've read it a while back. lol I was mentioning that in case someone wants to address it, once more yes. Well bringing them back takes the addressing to another level but I don't see why Zdarsky or anyone would do that lol But yeah this part shouldn't happen, but addressing it somehow I'm certainly open to it.

    ... Geez! LOL

@ursaber: I don't have the time to watch the video or focus my thoughts right now, I'll likely address it again later but I'll try to answer it the best I can right now:

I don't necessarily disagree with the points you mentioned he made and that 'SJW elements' definitely played part in RYV, I think I've even mentioned it here a few times. Me and Zarius even talked the other day about the title being a little too MJish. I think Conway had to overdo it a bit in order for people to see it better, and tbh I was a bit in doubt myself at first.
But storytelling wise I think this will certainly have consequences for MJ (and perhaps even bigger than we think due to the Venomverse thing, getting the symbiote got her into an even bigger mess). It would simply be absurd not to and I'd definitely dislike it.
But that subject aside, I enjoyed issue 8. A very pleasant read indeed. Aside from what was already mentioned my only real complaint is that I'm not a big fan of MJ's costume, a bit too simple and looks like a bit too much like Julia's/Anya's costume, but let's not get off-topic. lol

I actually get a bit into all of this on my RYV 6-8 and all around thoughts, which I'll probably post here... Someday... lol I just need to translate 'em (originally written in my native language), which frankly I'm a bit lazy to do. LMAO

Yeah. I love MJ and all but she should complement Peter rather than the other way around. I know this is an ensemble book but there it is. Definitely MJish.

I did enjoy the read of RYV 8 because I like to read things casually at first to enjoy them rather than go all analytical in my first view as though I were a critic. Just looking for fun and stimulation. Now after multiple reads and the video reviews, I have to agree that MJ did went behind Peter's back (which indicates an insecurity and lack of trust or rather impulsiveness) and while its not like it didn't happen in the original marriage, I don't encourage it. Peter shouldn't be spineless when learning and dealing with it and certainly not wimpy about it.

Just hope that the development of this sticks and has consequences or boons to MJ. And I really want to know how Conway would explain MJ's need to be a super. I have my own understandings as to why since MJ has wanted to help Peter in that part of his life more actively before and her wanting to be on the same page with Peter most of the time. However as is with trying new things it comes with flaws and mistakes they'll have to work out.

And yes I also share the view that MJ's Venom costume looks identical to Anya Corazon's. I also think that these story arcs need to be 3 issues long instead of two parters. Beginning, Middle, End so as to not rush and have good development.

Native language? Mine is Spanish, what's yours? (if you can answer)

@animehunter: Damn. Not even in the top 100. Now I see the theories of how it might be cancelled and maybe Conway's reason as to why he may be rushing this. Its probable this story is like Vision and has a set end. Excuse me while I lament.

Cause for worry indeed. But never give up, not until the bitter end, not until all's been said and done and there's no one left standing. FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!

We have to stay loyal till to RYV, till the end. Wish my friends read comics, I'd tell them to buy but none of them reads comics. Only some read manga -____-

On Thursday I recommended this comic to a friend in college who occasionally reads comics. Told him about RYV and showed him the first issue on my phone and he loved it, especially the art. But I can't say for sure if he'll buy it.

Where I am, there's not much comic book fans. And if there are they have their own mostly DC interests. For something as specific as the spider marriage, the fans needed for that are Spider Man fans or any walk.

Does'nt seem like it was a lucrative month for many of the Spidey titles. Slott will spin being in the top thirty or so as a success, but being out of the top twenty is a continued embarrassment for something like Marvel's flagship title.

@ursaber Yeah I believe MJ is going to be dispatched to Venomverse and the family will go through a tiff but will rebound just in time to wrap up this entire story and they'll call it a day afterwards. Just have it end as a twelve issue maxi-series and revisit it again somewhere down the road with another finite story.

Well damn, I knew this was coming but... Damn. Since we don't know the numbers, being out of the top 100 may not be as bad as it seems, but since it's considerably bellow Spider-Gwen who was at the same level... Not looking good.

I Doubt It Would actually End So Soon Especially Since They Have Some More Stories To Tell. But, In All Honestly, Series Like Slott's Run On The Character And Bendis' Miles Morales Series Don't Seem To Deserve Much Attention. I Mean One Is Basically Trying To Destroy The Character And His Mythos And While It Was Harsh Of Me To Say That About Miles, Bendis Has Honestly Not Been Doing Anything New Or Interesting With The Character. He Has No Other Traits, Doesn't Even Seem To Have Is Own Villains, No New Supporting Casts, And Is Being Written As This OP Character For Some Reason. Even How Important He Is Is Pretty Ridiculous. I Mean, Him Beating The Devil's Son With A Shock Blast, Him Being Treated Nice And Fairly By Nadia Pym While She Treats Peter Like Garbage For Some Reason, Him Being Written The Majority Of Times In Secret Empire While Peter Only Has Like A Few Tiny Appearances, And Tony And Peter For Some Reason Fighting Over Miles. This Kind Of Thing Is Ridiculous For The Character. I'd Rather Miles Just Be His Own Character And Not Be Written More Fair And Important Than Peter Who Is Being Written And Treated Like Some Kind Of Garbage. I Don't Hate Miles. But, I Really Wish The Kid Was Written Well Instead Of Being Like This "Black Spider-Man". Hopefully After The Merge He'll Be Written Fine And By Someone Who Isn't Really Written By Bendis.

Anyway, I Hope Hope That The Latest Issue Of RYV Does Well Especially The Later Issues. The Series Really Needs Some Support.

They should relaunch it as the Amazing Spider Family or Amazing Spider Man Family. Make Peter the protagonist again, MJ an active support but not full time Spinneret, and Annie is a kid who is struggling with her powers rather than being an active kid superhero.

However I feel RYV's super family premise was original and different than stuff done before. I just feel they should manage Annie better and solve the power sharing crisis.

(Accidently deleted my previous post -_-)
Agreed with pretty much all your points. Again this kinda has to blow up in MJ's face otherwise I won't like it at all... If they try to spin her as being right or something. I mean it's great to have MJ focus especially after her recent treatment on main continuity, but they're kinda overdoing it which I'm not a big fan of...
And while I'm not counting on it here's hoping for a bit more focus on Peter himself, I think that from the 3 protagonists, he's got the short end of the stick.

And yeah, not only that but I think I already expressed my love for the Spinneret costume here. While not very stand-out it was still MJ's own thing, finally her own thing, and now... She's just another Venom and not a very original one at that. Storytelling wise it's an interesting choice, but I want Spinneret to live. LOL

No prob, It's Portuguese. I don't know if you recall but I'm from Brazil.

@ursaber: I think that they should just keep this name if they go down that route. Spider-Family would fit better the current book and Spider-Man would fit better this idea of yours with Peter back at the center. Definitely agree about Annie tho, which always was one of my problems with the book.

I didn't mind, when I first read it (had not read the interviews, visited the forums or anything) I was expecting a Peter book much like the original RYV but the 'Incredibles' path was an interesting one. I was even on the fence about MJ being a superhero but the book quickly won me over. But that's my personal view, I've seen some complaints about it and I wonder how much it actually damaged the book, however.

    @amazingfantasy:

MJ having a large part in this book is by no means a bad thing. All three Parkers are the protagonists. However there is some stuff in how MJ is handled that comes off wrong. Like in issue 4 where she defended their daughter crimefighting with them or One Punch MJ. They're kind of uplifting her a little too much, trying to make her more awesome. The mentality and the way she feels is genuine and good but her actions, what she does is awkward.

I have no problem with MJ standing on equal footing with Peter as a superhero, so long as they work together, efficiently and there's no competition between the two or anything like that. No making MJ stand out or Peter in a bad manner. The two are partners, they are an item, on the same page. They'll come across obstacles but they will overcome it. But like, MJ is made super awesome sometimes and Peter is relegated back. There is an imbalance between how the two are handled in action.

Issue 5 was the best example of how their dynamic should be. Peter taking charge with MJ and Annie alongside him, all working together, none outdoing each other.

Something else I forgot to say is that, MJ is already awesome and trying to make her even more awesome (even if its just to give her new things or roles or stuff to do) is like fixing something that isn't broken.

That'd Actually Be Nice To See. I Like To Have Gerry Conway Still Be Involved With Ryan Stegman And Nathan Stockman. And Speaking Of Which, I'd Really Like It If Other Artists Try And Tackle This Series To Fit With This Dynamic And Stories. I'd Really Like To See Guys Like Stuart Immonen, Stefano Caselli, David Marquez, Jim Cheung, Sara Pichelli, Phil Noto, Veronica Fish, Javier Ridriguez, Michael Walsh, Aaron Kuder, Paco Medina, Mark Brooks, Mark Bagley, Russel Dauterman, Adam Kubert, Ben Torres, Declan Shavley, And Sandford Greene Tackling This Series With Some Short Stories By Hannah Blumenreich, Guri Hiru, Kris Anka, Todd Nauck, Salva Espin, David Aja, Ed McGuinness, And Marguirette Bennett/Sauvage.

Though, If This Sort Of Thing Happens After The Merge I'd Still Like To See Some Of These Guys Involved Including Guys Like Peter David, Charles Soule, Robbie Thompson, Gerry Duggan, Cullen Bunn, Kelly Thompson, And Even James Robinson.

It is sad Renew Your Vow dropped from the TOP100, it may sell now mid's twenty thousand right now, we have to wait to see if this Venom arc can propel the sales.

It seems Amazing Spider-Man also suffered a huge fall in its numbers.

I pray to not have a reversal of fortune. We wait and see and then it actually does worse. I sure as hell did not expect it to fall out of the Top 100. Since it did, I also expect it to have dropped in sales too.

Yeah, RYV was actually above it last time they were together and she was also in the mid-high 20k IIRC. But RYV is not near it which is why I said it's not looking good.

@ursaber: I mean, it most definitely did drop, the question is how much. There's really no reason for this issue to sell better than the previous one, however... If interest was low and X-men didn't really bring any numbers, then now it only gets lower I guess...

But as we saw VenoMJ had considerable pre-order already. It will probably do better, but again, what matters is how much better.

Or we may be facing the harsh reality that there simply is not enough interest for the book on top of the other justifiable and non justifiable excuses we've made (dilution, lack promotion, AU, etc). Or there was at first but it dyed down. A common thing for all Marvel comics.

But as we saw VenoMJ had considerable pre-order already. It will probably do better, but again, what matters is how much better.

    Enough to keep it alive.

But my bias aside, I do genuinely find weird for RYV to fall so quickly. I really expected it to do better despite being an AU. I'm rather tired right now but I'll try to think of reasons on what went wrong later...

Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, 18th June 2017 – Forging A New Top Ten

This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the “Wednesday Warriors”, those who can’t wait to the weekend to get this week’s comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.

And thoroughly without equivocation, Dark Days takes the top. It almost had a complete sweep and but for two copies in one store, would have. A resounding success as DC Comics continues its dominance of the top of the chart in sales to readers.

    1. Dark Days: The Forge #1
    2. Detective Comics #958
    3. Flash #24
    4. Secret Empire #4
    5. Action Comics #981
    6. Wonder Woman #24
    7. Justice League Of America #8
    8. Star Wars #32
    9. Titans #12
    10. X-Men Blue #5

    Thanks to the following retailers…

    Who had this to say…

Marvel placed three titles in our store’s Top Ten this week, which is an improvement–but the real growth came in the next ten position, with Marvel taking five more slots between #11 and #20. Interestingly, Secret Empire #4 sold more copies on Day One than either Secret Empire #2 or #3 did, which is a very positive change. The juggernaut of the week was Dark Days: The Forge, which sold more copies on day one than the next five books combined.

Strong interest in affordably priced 80s and 90s DC’s this week, scattered across the Batman, Superman, and Justice League families. Also, keen interest in the original Black Lightning series…

    —-

Dark Days: The Forge sold three times as much as 2nd place Detective Comics, which sold twice as much as Secret Empire #4. The surprise of the week in sales and quality? Old Man Logan #25! Great new direction, Ed Brisson & Mike Deodato nailed it. Nothing shocking this time around otherwise.

    —–

Dark Days: The Forge was our best seller at FFF this week, selling more than twice as many copies as the second best selling book. We only sold a handful at our Midnight release, but it sold steadily through the past few days. People aren’t as excited as they were for Rebirth, but DC has maintained customer interest and new reader curiosity and they’re keeping their fans pleased. The first Marvel book in the Top Ten was Secret Empire at #5. People are still interested in the series, but with the announcement of ANOTHER issue (and the delay of issue 6) I don’t foresee it lasting. Darth Vader #1 was the only other Marvel book in the Top Ten which is pretty good for a book. Speaking of books selling very well on their second week, Babyteeth #1 was #7. Our Store Exclusive variant is still selling great which is awesome to see. Kill the Minotaur was the only other indie book to make it into the Top Ten.

For the Top Twenty, Marvel fared slightly better with five more books (though they all fall at the last five places). Defenders is off to a mediocre start. It would’ve probably done better if they’d released it closer to the show, but I’m sure it’ll pick up when the Netflix series drops. Gwenpool sold more copies than Star Wars which goes to show that God has truly abandoned us. The Looney Tunes crossovers did better than I’d imagined they would with Marvin Martian/Martian Manhunter at #13 and Legion/Bugs Bunny at #16

We recently purchased a collection of older comics from the Silver to the Bronze age (and a few Golden age books!) which we’ve been selling through surprisingly well. Some of the highlights we sold were Detective Comics #411, The Forever People #1-5, Batman #88, and Avengers #4!

    ——

Great sales week. One of the most confusing ones ever due with summer and two stores closing not long ago. Getting new people in town while school is out and others from closed stores and then figuring out what titles they are going to want will most likely be a good thing over the next few months. Dark Days the Forge was our number one book. I read it Tuesdaynight and loved it. Told people if they were on the fence about it they could return it if they decided they didn’t like it. I have that much faith in the book. Secret Empire 4 barely made it in the top ten. Hoping that people that are interested in the book just have not had a chance to make it in yet. Suicide Squad blew out the doors even though I increased the order on it. Red Hood and the Outlaws keeps increasing in readership here. Star Wars and Secret Empire gives Marvel two titles in our top ten this week. DC’s Looney Toons team up issues look DOA sadly.

    ——

With new customers there are new interest in back issues and newer issues. All copies of the current Weapon X are now sold out. The current Suicide Squad issue 9 and on up are now sold out. One person was replacing his collection because it was stolen sadly. X Men Blue and Gold are currently seeing some love. Any issues of Amazing Spider-man’a first run with Venom and Carnage are now in demand.

    —–

Secret Empire #4 was our top seller this week. That being said, if I hadn’t just sold another copy of it 5 minutes ago, it would’ve tied with both The Forge and The Defenders. All three titles drew a good amount of interest this week, especially The Forge, despite our store pretty much always skewing indie. On that side of things, the Bitch Planet Triple Feature and the first issue of Garth Ennis’ new action-comedy Jimmy’s Bastards both made appearances in our top 10.

    —-

Dark Days the Forge #1 outsold everything by a mile this week, and I was really glad we went deep on it, because many shops apparently did not. That being said, we were still sold out by Thursday evening. DC had the next closest book as well, with Flash, and Marvel’s Secret Empire continues to do well, coming in the third spot. DC was strong all around this week holding a solid 5 of the top 10 spots, with Detective, Wonder Woman and Suicide Squad showing strongly. The next best placed Marvel book behind Secret Empire was Star Wars, proving the Star Wars line is still the strongest of the Marvel offerings. Old Man Logan, at a milestone #25 barely made the top 10. Out of the indies, most of which barely miss the top 10 each week, Planet of the Apes Green Lantern #5 landed strong in the 5th spot, and the Turtles are still hot with TMNT outpacing Logan this week.
Just outside of the top 10, Godshaper from BOOM!, Rai- History of the Valiant Universe from Valiant, Catalyst Prime Accell from Catalyst, and Betty and Veronica from Archie each barely missed one of the top spots, and placed better than the next highest books from Marvel or DC.

While current Marvel offerings are still underperforming to expectations, with a few exceptions, back issues of most Marvel titles older than 5 years have continued to do well. Copper Age is still a strong mover for Marvel core titles like X-Men, Spider-Man, Captain America, Daredevil, Hulk and Avengers.

Yeah I think Zdarsky's Peter doesn't seem so formidable in... Well... Anything, from what was shown so far. As much as I was putting faith in Chip I'm a bit disappointed by what we've seen by this point. I truly hope the book proves me wrong.

Seems Very Interesting. Hope This Series Continues To Be Great If Not Better. In All Honesty, Spidey Never Had Much Of A Good Story Nor Series Since OMD. And The Only Series He Had Since OMD Were Avenging Spider-Man, Astonishing Spider-Man/Wolverine, Some Issues Of Future Foundation, Spider-Man/Deadpool, And The Family Business Graphic Novel. Now The Only Good Series He Has Right Now Are RYV And This Series. Peter Should Be Getting Some More Great Series As Well As One Or Two Graphic Novels Every Two Years. The Character Honestly Really Deserves That After Years Of Being Mistreated.

Peter better not damn lose against Riri. Oh who are we kidding

Hopefully He Doesn't. I Mean, If This Was Actually Bendis, He Would Easily Lose. If It's By Another Writer, Then I Hope He Would Win Instead Of Just Trying To Make Riri Win For Their BS Of Her Being This African American Teen Prodigy Or Something.

Forgot to say... I agree very much with this post. Well said. Miles really needs to stop being the main character of the universe, but eh, at this point I've given up as long as Bendis is on board. Hopefully his animated movie and the PS4 game actually write a more down to earth Morales.

@marvelman92: Well there actually were many minis and Web of Spider-Man as well.
But with all that you mentioned I'd hardly call it 'only' haha.

At this point, if RYV ends, I'll be officially a DC fan from now on since there'd e nothing in Marvel keeping me there any longer. They butcher old favorites and make the weakest attempts for new ones. I'm just tired. DC on the other hand makes it fun, so imma go there.

In the meantime, is it really true that Conway told Bendis Annie is better than Riri?

Hope The Miles Film Turns Out Great Since It's Being Run By Phil Lord And Chris Miller Who Actually Did The Lego Movie. As For The Upcoming PS4 Game From Insomniac, Let's Hope He's Well Written There To Because From What I've Seen From A Quick Glimpse, He Seems To Have Much Of A Personality. Let's Hope To See What He's Actually Like With It. I Also Hope That After Bendis Leaves The Series, Someone Else Would Try And Improve On The Character By Giving Him His Own Traits, Supporting Casts, Villains, And His Own Goals And Interests. His Time Under Bendis Is Honestly Just Holding Him Back. The Kid Needs To Have His Own Uniqueness. Hopefully Some Writer Would Actually Try And Help Improve On That For The Character.

@itsaworld: Can't really blame you. I already dropped 95% of Marvel like two years ago, I only really follow the Spideyverse closely and buy 3 books. Tho I will be trying Spectacular so that will be 4.

And I haven't heard anything about this Conway/Bendis thing. But he's right :D

Well There Are Some Other Great Series Like Daredevil by Charles Soule, Old Man Logan by Ed Brisson, Deadpool, X-Men Blue, Cable by James Robinson, Infamous Iron Man, Two Thor Books, Doctor Strange, Venom, Luke Cage by David F Walker, Iron Fist by Ed Brisson, Punisher by Becky Cloonan, Guardians Of The Galaxy by Gerry Duggan, Black Bolt, The Inhumans, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye by Kelly Thompson, Jessica Jones, Spider-Man 2099, Secret Warriors, The Defenders, And Possibly The Peter Parker:Spectacular Spider-Man by Chip Zdarsky. But, They Really Need To Fix And Improve More On Their Universe And Company. But, If They Manage To Screw Up And Break Every Promise With The Upcoming Legacy Story Event, Then Their Company Would Die Incredibly Quick.

As For Conway's Statement On Annie Being Better Than Riri, In All Honesty, I'd Actually Smile Greatly If He Actually Did Say That. I Mean, Let's Be Honest Here, Riri Has Been Written Well Or Unique In Her Own Right.
