I have been loving what Dan Slott has been doing on Spider-Man but with some of the decisions at marvel lately this has me a bit concerned.Yes. Everything is building to #700. The "Ends of the Earth" storyline we're doing right now, the Lizard story that's coming up, we have a celebratory story for the 50th Anniversary of "Amazing Fantasy" #15 coming in August on the actual 50th Anniversary -- August 1962/August 2012. Giant story that will have resonance and also build more pieces. We have a giant Hobgoblin arc coming up, which will have a status quo change for Phil Urich. There's stuff in there, too. Then, we go into the last stories that lead you up to "Spider-Man" #700 at the end of the year and something -- recently, Axel Alonso on CBR mentioned that he's been having to contact all these other creators and explain to them you can't walk away from this, there's this big change happening in "Spider-Man" and it has to get reflected in everyone's books. Something massive is happening, there's no ignoring it. What happens in #700 -- everything I've written my entire career in comics, nothing has had this big an effect on a character than what happens in "Spider-Man" #700. Other creators will say, "This will break the Internet in half," and "This will do this" and "This will do that" -- this is for real! This is my biggest whack at the comic book piñata. I'm breaking it and all the candy's coming out. It's not going back together. Something really seismic is going to happen in "Amazing Spider-Man" #700. So, you're going to have "AvX" happen and shortly after, "Amazing Spider-Man" #700 and the Marvel Universe that you're going to see after that -- it's not a reboot. There is no reboot. But the effects of "AvX" and the event that happens in "Spider-Man" #700 are so big that you'll be looking at quite a different landscape after the seismic changes, he said, jiggling his neck fat.
Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17242 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
Spider-Man 700 to bring big changes
I've got a feeling it's the reunion we've all been praying for..because their relationship was a fan favorite......and we all know and are quite outspoken about how it ended in a devastating way that also upset a lot of fans...........so i'm thinking...........we're gonna get....because "YOU THE FAN DEMANDED IT"... Peter Parker gets back together with Carlie Cooper!!

I was so furious when they broke up!
If it's Slott, I'm interested. Wonder what it'll be...
You don't think he'd bring back Gwen Stacy, do you?
In the Avengers books they are pretty much hated for making authority decisions that effect the world own their own combined with Cyclops plan to make them look bad succeed they will be even more hated. Now put that together with Spider-Man being wanted in his own book for wanting to stop Doc Ock from "saving the world form global warming". Should he succeed he will be the most hated man in the world.
heh maybe they will just retire him and Miles Morales will take over the role after they meet in the crossover.
Don't say that! Don't say his name. Don't say MM. Because that is exactly what I'm afraid of. What they did in the Ultimate Universe will also happen in the Marvel Universe. That, or something will happen to Pete. Maybe someone will miss their mommy and in the end time will be messed up and Pete will be in highschool again, somehow mysteriously looking a lot like Andrew Garfield.

hell yeah...its better than half the stuff that has happened to Spidey over the past years...radioactive semen!?....sigh...@cattlebattle said:

I hope it's something real good, but then again, Slott has been doing good at Amazing Spider-Man. I hope it's not Spider-Phoenix again.

He better not do either of those things. I know death is an unstable rule in comics, and most people come back, but there are certain people who should never ever come back. Like Bruce Wayne's parents, Peter Parker's parents, Uncle Ben, Gwen Stacy, and Ben Reilly for example. They mean too much to character development.

I wouldn't be surprised :p
But the quote makes it to look like this will have an effect on ALL of Marvel, not just Spidey, so I think we need to go bigger than just "Gwen Stacy comes back" or something.
RoboBen could work, he'd be the most powerful villain this side of Galactus.

I'd support it.
I honestly wouldn't know. Like, he's so good on the title that all I want to do is see how he does it. Consider that a test on his part, lol.

The fact that he said "it" wasn't a reboot makes me think it's some form of reboot. <_<
lol. Still haven't read OP.

I'd like Gwen v MJ to be played off again, since MJ is vastly different a character now.
@ReVamp: Well Gwen could always be different too if she came back.
I'm saying it here: If Dan Slott brought back Gwen Stacy in a tasteful way that makes me go "Holy sh*t. He did it. And it didn't suck at all." He'll go down as the best Spider-Man writer in history. Like, he's great and up there, but that would seal the deal entirely. A character like her's is one that I think everyone'd prefer dead, but if he did it in such a way that works well, and doesn't insult any of the characters involved, he'd be a freaking comic legend of Kirby proportions.

Don't overdo it there. I think you're getting a little too excited haha.
@TheAnnihilator: Really though. Between her, Bruce Wayne's parents, and Uncle Ben, those are characters you can never bring back. If Slott can do it in a way that makes me go "Wow" in a good way, then he'd be a legend. Plain and simple, lol.
Ed Brubaker did it with Bucky, who at the time Marvel was declaring would never return and yet he did it with such a twist that Bucky has now become a fan favorite. Anything's possible, it just takes the right story to do it.@ReVamp: Well Gwen could always be different too if she came back.

Well, he'd be a legendary Spider-Man writer, but I wouldn't compare him to Jack Kirby now. That was a little bold.
I think Slott is doing an amazing job on Spider-Man too and has brought him to new places for the first time in a while. He's Cap's Brubaker, Green Lantern's Johns, Wolverine's Aaron, and maybe Batman's Snyder and Daredevil's Waid if they can keep up the work. Writers going against the grain is great.
@War Killer: Exactly. I'm not saying that it shouldn't be done, or that Slott can't do it, but... yeah. I think I made my point, lol.
Honestly, if any of today's writers could do such a thing for Gwen, I think it'd be Slott. I have full confidence that if he goes there, he'll do it well.

really? Wow... just wow. I really hope Slott does a good job with that if it has to be. I really would hate for it to screw up his career, and them have to replace him.

Yeah, I hope that he doesn't mess it up. But what if we are totally wrong?

I hope it's not Gwen. I really hope not. She's one of the few characters who should stay dead in comics.
They better not bring back Gwen:
1. There's still a Gwen clone out there somewhere
2. Two words for you= Sins Past (this should be enough of a reason not to do it!)
I think Gwen's better off dead. She was a good character, but her story is so profound because of her tragic death.
@Strider92: Joyce Delaney?
Because she got killed just before Spider-Island, unless I'm forgetting someone...

She did? I missed that. How'd she die?
theories
1. Bringing back Gwen stacy( which I wouldn't mind if done right)
2. Norman Osborn finds out peter is Spider man and tries to ruin his life
3. Something to do with Sin's past( though I hope not)
4. Return of Morlun and Peter gets his other power back( which I would really enjoy)
5. Something to do with AvX ( Spidey is suppose to play a big role in that)
6. Aunt may dies( which she should have done 15 years ago)
7. Something to do with the Lizard
8. Something to do with the Hobgoblin and Kingpin
9. Miles Morales come to the earth 616 and becomes Peter's sidekick( Which I wouldn't mine)
10. He dies and someone else becomes Spider man
This is Marvel, you guys. Everything will be back to the way it was within 4-6 months of whatever this change is supposed to be.

She was sniped during her new life in London by Abby-L before she took on the Jackal. I don't have the scans but it was in Spiderman: Deadly Foes.
@Strider92: Indeed she was, tried to kill off the Jackel and all his work including Kaine and the other surviving clones.

As for the second one (I know this is old), it can easily be retconned. It not like people in Marvel haven't tried to do it multiple times, if anyone's earned the right to do it its slot.

They shouldn't bring Gwen back. Some deaths you just shouldn't touch. Besides with all the times they hinted at it with Clones and Daughters ug.@Strider92 said:
