it would be better off starting volume #3 ASM with a new creative team, and a new direction... when is slott moving to silver surfer? that day, I'll pick up a new ish#.
Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17246 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
Official: Peter Parker Returns April 2014 in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1
Not happy. I knew Peter would return, but this feels way too soon, though it explains why they made the comic come out every two weeks, in order to provide more story in a shorter amount of time. I liked what they did with Otto and his supporting cast. I like Anna Maria, I like how he accidently put the wheels in motion for the creation of Alchemax, the Spider army, Spider Island, the spider bots, and so on. I grew up with Peter, but I got tired of him and the predictability with him. Hell, Otto even managed to get his doctorate and start a new company, things Peter should have done long ago, and I was happy when he snapped at Aunt May (she has asked for it at times). I would have been fine with Peter returning, but this just feels like capitalization on the movie and a bit less organic.
Give Pete the Superior Spidey costume because it's awesome. Remove the spider backpack and keep the rest. Everyone in the world is getting a costume redesign; makes sense for Pete to keep the best Spider-Man related costume since Ben Reilly.
I'm just reading the second Superior trade, 'Troubled Mind', and I can't believe they're going to throw away a fresh new slant on Spidey just for a movie. How long after Peter comes back before we're back to the same, dreary routine?! whatever else Superior was it was fresh and new, and as someone who's been reading comics since the early 80s, you don't see that very often.

It's all about Synergy (I hate that word).
Remember they did the same with Bucky's Cap
@mickeymayhew: I'm going to have to highly disagree with you there as it has been done before and better.
I don't understand all the people connecting this to the ASM 2 release, why would they want to support it? The way I see it, Marvel would want the movie to do bad so they stop making them and the rights revert back, or at least they can buy them back for cheaper...
While I agree that it makes no sense that the two would be related, (nobody is going to watch the movie, decide to read comic books, go to the comic book shop, ask for help, discover that the comics are in a temporary story line of Peter's body being taken over, and decide they don't want to read comics anymore. Just. No.) your logic is kind of flawed here. Firstly, connecting the comics to the movie release (apparently) is supposed to help support the comics, not the movies. Sony doesn't need help from comic books to get their movies attention. However, even if it did work that way, Marvel most certainly does not want these movies to fail. All 4 Spider-Man movies are in the top 100 grossing films of all time. Marvel gets to make a cut of that without having to pay for them to be made, and then gets the benefit of new comic book readers, and then gets the benefit of selling countless amounts of Spider-Man merchandise because of it. Besides, they know they're not getting those rights back any time soon even if it the franchise were to fail. Amazing Spider-Man 2 could fail traumatically by superhero movie standards and still be more than profitable for Sony.
That wasn't my logic at all. What I meant was I thought it was more of a coincidence, everyone knew this was a temporary thing. Even if the movie wasn't releasing in the same month I feel it's likely this would've still happened.
@mickeymayhew: I'm going to have to highly disagree with you there as it has been done before and better.
when?!
@mickeymayhew: Kraven's last hunt, Batman Knightfall, and Ultimate Spider-Man. To name a few.

If by fresh and new you mean downright disrespectful to Peter's legacy, horribly contrived story telling and plain horrible characterisations then yeah Superior was 'fresh and new.' And if by dreary routine, you mean timeless classic that only needs tweaking and updating with the times, then that's exactly what Spider-Man needs. A return to the classics, not changing the wheel for the sake of change. Superior has been an awful mess and a blemish on Spider-Man's history. For someone who's been reading since the 80s, I find it surprising you don't find it disrespectful either.
I do find it disrespectful but Peter was growing tired. I think he needs a new writer if he's going to come back. But Superior has been a lot of fun, and Otto has been a much more efficient Spiderman than Peter ever was.
@mickeymayhew: Otto "admitted" he's inferior. Let's see what will go down in Goblin Nation. That will show clearly who's the best (as if we don't know).
Spock hasn't been around long enough to cause that much mess; he's been off with May and Mary Jane, beat up Jester and Screwball, and killed a multiple murderer (Massacre); in some people's eyes that makes him a hero. Peter is coming back too soon, and when the movie's gone and out on blu-ray the comic will be stuck in the same tired old cycle it was before Superior.
april fools
APRIL FOOLS
It says "March-April" you party poopers.
Slott's problems as a writer go way beyond his messing with Spidey's legacy. He's just a bad writer. With few exceptions, he always was. I'm just sorry it took the Spock thing for folks to fully realize it. Throw in Ramos doing the art, and the new ASM will be less memorable than it deserves to be. I mean..why not let some big guns..like Waid or Hickman take the helm?
Man am I glad he's back. Now we can have a Spider-Man that's a hell of a lot more interesting then Spider-Ock who I hope is gone permanently. Of course I'm still concerned since I know Slott's writing it. I hope Peter will call people out on not noticing the switch.
Second that notion; And with that 'twist' haingin in the air...its got me a lil worried and on edge
- Im happy.....seriously.
- “But there’s a twist. There’s always a twist.” F off.
- The alternate cover is beautiful.
okay...
1. This
2. I'm gonna follow you just for that :)
3. its iight
How the heck is it suppose to work? And forget about the process of Pete getting his body back, I'm talking about Doc Ock having too much influence on his world. How is Pete suppose to pick up from that?
They were compeletely anf uterly stupid, for a year to ignore the behaviour change.....imagine now, someone will go to Pete and say, "you're acting weird!......you were a jerk and now you're a nice guy....something's not right!" :P
it was the way he talked. I mean...C'MON! He was like House: The Scientist Version
Glad that Peter is coming back but since Slott is still on and he says there is a twist,I am not that excited anymore.
That other shoe man, just hangin there. Waiting to drop, with me goin 'JUST DROP, YOU B&#!%* !!!'
oh well, an end of an era. rest in peace superior, you will be missed
You can miss him. I won't :/

Though, I will admit, the suit SpOck's got is awesome, but I just can't 'like' it, cause frankly, I don't like the guy in the skin suit he 'stole'
The most interesting part to see is how Peter will clean up Dock Ock's mess...
Yea, that's a complete clustercluck, I'm sure; I'm more than hoping he has a few choice words w/ the Avengers crew; yea, they had to go to space and fight off Thanos, but not to notice the 'change' in one of their own teammates...really?
IMO, the twist might be that they actually fire him from The Avengers b/c of all of the strange 'behavior' of his recent exploits. But I could be wrong
60s dialog-House: The Scientist Version.

2. I'm gonna friend you just for that
Well,thank you!
I used to read Spider-man up until the unmasking that ruined the character for good. After that, it was like nothing was ever going to happen again. It was that bad. They just seem to stop putting the work into the character. The Unmasking could of sold lots of issues if under the right circumstance, but this was magic Spider-man with 10 new things going on and none of it mattered. They wanted him unmarried and that was the only thing they cared about.
Is he still magic?
I won't miss SSM at all..I didn't even bother to give his series a chance because every time I saw him in the other books I read I just could not stand his attitude. I flipped through only one of his books which was the one where he encountered the Punisher and it turned me off big time since if anyone could've figured out there was something wrong with Peter it'd be Frank but they just had him let SpOck off with a warning..smh. I'm more sad that Scarlet Spider ended since I found it to be the most enjoyable of the spider books
Ok. I have read some of the Doc Ock/Spider-Man stuff. Interesting idea. But is there going to be room for two Spider-Mans in the Marvel Universe?
Well, it seems as though I have a difficult decision to make. Naturally, I'm elated that Peter is back, but I don't feel like I can in good conscience just act like all is forgiven after being jerked around for an entire year with this Doc Ock BS.
On the other hand, if this doesn't outsell what Superior normally did, how long before Marvel pulls another 180 and we have to go through this nonsense all over again?
Totally agree 100% with your statement. It's great Pete's back but not with Slott & Ramos at the helm.
@mickeymayhew: No he caused a big enough mess to make Peter's life hell. He's driven Hobgoblin insane, Blackmailed mayor Jameson, Alienated the Avengers. dissected Blackout in front of Aunt May. Yelled at her as Peter, Mind-raped the Sinister Six. Left MJ for dead at a fire. Called Kaine and all clones abominations, and generally acted worse than his father. I say Good riddance to Spider-Ock I never want Otto Octavius in a Spider-Man comic ever again after this but that's Just my two cents.
While he may be coming back, look at what he's coming back to after all the stuff Doc Ock has done in his body. After the whole Goblin thing is over he's still blackmailed the mayor, killed an unarmed man, beat two pranksters into a near coma, rubbed several dozen heroes the wrong way, entered a relation with a woman who Peter has never met before, yelled at Aunt May, messed with time and space, burned the bridge of trust he had with Sandman, scared Mary Jane with the symbiote trauma again, and I'm sure there's more I'm not naming. He'll basically be back to square one again and worst case scenario: Doc Ock's in his head now.
I will really miss Spock and Anna Maria
Anna Maria is who I feel the worst for. I hope they find some way to give her a good ending. Or even stay on as a supporting character for Peter.
@sentryman555: Anna should die
@sentryman555: Anna should die
Why would you say that?
@sentryman555: I don't like her. she and Otto rape Peter
Huzzah well Superior fans I want yo say it's been fun but that would be lying so instead get out and go read Scarlet Spider, I've read he meets those criteria Spock executes in being a brutal vigilante.
No Scarlet Spider is actually good and shows Kaine regretful of his past. As well as character development. Hell recently he's sworn of killing.
@angelalfonso: Well it's not like she knows Otto is actually Peter. It'll actually be worse for her finding out on top of not dating the person she thought she was that his real self is/was a super villain!
@master_of_suprise: I never said he kills, I just said he's a brutal vigilante in the break his enemy's limbs and brutal slash attacks without the fatality.
