I'm fine with this.
Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17246 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
Marvel Announces Tom Holland Will Play Spider-Man, Jon Watts to Direct
To bad we couldn't have gotten an adult Peter Parker. Marvel will never let Spider-Man grow up.
how old do you want him to be?
THIS SUCKS. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
Why?
For those who still doubt, here's him performing a flip (one of many parkour things on his Instagram)
its boring so many reboots, the great new is we won´t see again the terrible spiderman that Gardfield is
Asa was perfect for this role. He looked like Peter and was even his height. Holland is only 5'6.
Height means nothing for casting.
There's some potential here. It's impressive that they are going this young.
I just wish people would stop thinking that Spider-man will have some big role in the coming CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR movie. The script for that movie was completed last year, and the Sony deal didn't go through until early this year. The movie has also been in production for over a month, at this point. They aren't going to rework the whole script just for one character.
Maybe a cameo at the end, but even that's stretching it.
Well, if Marvel says they're the right guys for the job, I have nothing but faith that they will be a near perfect.
I just don't see why they feel the need to reboot, it seemed like the last reboot was going fairly well. Except for the corporate need to find someone who is solely identified with the new Sony/Marvel brand and not with the previous all-Sony brand. I guess they will once again be coming up with a new origin for him that will now be the canon origin for the Marvel Cinematic U.
I really wanted Dylan O'Brien to play the role, though. He was an extremely popular choice, and he got a lot of support for the role.
Personally, I wanted an Empire State University Peter, instead of a Mid Town High School Peter. But I guess we'll see how this works out...
Hey, wow. They chose an actor who actually looks like the character he is supposed to be portraying.....Who would of thought that was a thing....
@havenless: Marvel's going to screw up Civil War big time.. And I always loved Civil War.
NO! OMFG! Spiderman went to college in 1965 and graduated in 1978. He has been an adult for 37 years, more than twice the amount of time he has been a kid in the comics. Unreal.
I am sad that Andrew is gone(I enjoyed that Spiderman series a good amount, but I guess I'll keep the faith..
I'm glad I don't know who this is. It means future movies can focus more on Spider-man and not the actor playing Spider-man.
Also, I am now convinced that British actors have classes specifically dedicated to American accents. I dunno how a British person pulls off a New York accent, but if they can play the part then so be it.
I'm fine with this. People kept b*tching about Spider-Man not being in the MCU, NOW they're b*tching about the actor...I swear.
A sound choice. Loved the kid in The Impossible and I know Watts well from his work on The Onion.
@dark_guyver: in the comic the Amazing Spider-Man he's grown up
ROFL, the man-child of the Mephistoverse is the farthest thing from a grown-up in the regular comics. Renew Your Vows Peter is the true adult out of the pair of them. Same with the late "MC2" version of Peter.
When people look back on this era of Marvel the only word that will come into their head will be "Reboot reboot reboot."
Here's a more recent picture, for those that'll complain that he looks like a little kid:
He looks like a little kid in a leather jacket.
As long as Marvel, and not Sony, had the bigger hand in this then I'm fine with it. They haven't made a bad casting choice yet.
This
LOL!
But seriously though, I'm amped about this one. I think Holland will do a great job as Spidey.
I would have preferred if they kept Andrew Garfield, he was really good as Spider-Man, but I have no problem with this choice.
I'll miss Andrew Garfield, but i'm good with this. I hope Tom knocks it out of the park.
Garfield did Spider-Man right for the first time ever so he'll be missed by me as well but replacing him is understandable.
I really wanted Dylan O'Brien to play the role, though. He was an extremely popular choice, and he got a lot of support for the role.
Personally, I wanted an Empire State University Peter, instead of a Mid Town High School Peter. But I guess we'll see how this works out...
When it comes to casting their lead roles, Marvel does a pretty good job at it, so I'm willing to give the kid a shot. Personally I'm more curious as to how his suit will look in the movie. The suit used in ASM2 was pretty good, but I'm hoping we'll get a suit that is VERY close to the comics, spider-emblem and everything.
