Despite the fact her age isn't directly given, I'd imagine her and Peter being around the same age, since she was also attending high school when the spider bit her and Peter. She probably acts youthful and exuberant because she's been isolated in a bunker for 13 years of her life.

But regardless, I do like the idea of her. If there weren't so many Spider-People I'd probably appreciate her even more.

In terms of a relationship with her, I would like to see her character a little more developed instead of her and Peter acting so spontaneous because "they were bit by the same spider".

Yes. I don't see what the problem is. She's a cool, fun character and seeing him with a spider powers character is refreshing. Think about all the cool stuff we will get to see with them using their powers together. Although I do agree she needs more development

Well she is getting her own book despite some critics so she is getting fleshed out more than anyone expected. She is a nice change for Peter and all this mary sue talk is funny considering how damn perfect most of Peter's girlfriends seemed to be in their first run.

Jessica Drew would have been so much better than Silk, whose just another Mattie Franklin and UU Spider-Woman. I feel that Silk is going to become the next Spider-Queen. This is Slott's pet character that Marvel seems to like. But if that was the case, why couldn't they had used Earth-616 Jessica Drew instead of another female Spider-Character?

Idk if its just me but I love her character .. But ibeen reading every spiderman comic idk if i missed it or not but did they say why is she soo strong and all that and why does she have natural webbing but peter dont ? Or am i forgeting that peter use to and morlun took it away ?

I don't get all the "she's too young for him" comments. They were in high school together and it's been ten years so she's just about the same age.

I'm really liking her character. I agree that there are probably too many spiders but she seems like a likeable person and I'm looking forward to her being more fleshed out in her solo series.

lol good one. I'm not a fan of the idea of another person getting spider-powers the same time as Peter Parker. I feel it kind of cheapens Peter's origin and the fact that the concept seems like an idea to come from a bad self-insert fanfic. Also because they just met and getting together because they both have the same powers is shallow. If they really want to make her an engaging character, it should be done without delegating her as the new love itnerest.

My initial feelings are that I don't like the idea of Silk existing in the first place which I hate to say as an Asian-american, and would love to see Asians and minorities as a whole have more representation in comics. But who knows she might grow on me and prove to be an interesting character in the long run. I am already in love with Spider-gwen though, she's awesome lol.

Besides we all know that the only girl for Peter Parker is Mary Jane : P

@batcat91: Agreed, Pete and MJ are definitely meant to be, I also like the new Spider-Gwen too. You made a good point, I never thought about, how it undermines Spideys origin etc.

At times Silk seems like she just there just cause, she also undermines Spidey's origin with her existence. While I love seeing Asians and minorities as a whole have more representation in comics. I think it could been done in a much more suddle way to do that. But I don't dislike her, I have a feeling she will grow on me.

Actually, there are a few others besides Mary Jane for Peter, like Betty Brant and Felicia Hardy for example. Then there is Jessica Drew, Jennifer Walters(Human side), and Betsy Braddock(Pre-Psylocke mind switch).

@darthfury78: I know i said it like it's a fact, but it's just my opinion and how I feel about it haha. If you ever see me say things in absolutes. for things that can be debated, I'm most likely trying to be humorous or cheeky.

I'm also just trying to convey how much of an impact MJ has had on Peter and vice-verse before OMD. They actually matured and became better people. I'm not sure I necessarily agree with the list except for Felicia Hardy, but it's generally agreed among the majority of fans that the greatest or most prominent loves of Peter's life are Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy.

That is pretty much why I can adapt to this new situation. It took all these girls time to grow and be important in Peters life so I can see how silk will grow as a character while Peter will also have to grow after this major event. This takes me back to my favorite story arc in the animated series where the main spider-man had to lead the others when he was at a point in his life of giving up and doubting if he's worth having around.
