Spider-Man PS4 looks great, now which Spidey game has the best swinging?
Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17246 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
Best swinging in a Spider-Man game?
@g2_: It just feels worse
@superhero24: Why Spider-Man 2 and not 3 on PS2?
@fc_tsukihanami: What web swinging? The bad ass cinematic one, or the crappy one inside the buildings?
Spider Man 2 was the pioneer. Spider Man 3 was more of the same things done by its superior predecessor. Ergo if I have to choose between two similars, I will go with the originator, the pioneer.
BTW never said SM3's was inferior. By virtue of the fact that its pretty much the same, all credit still falls on SM2.
@Elbarto17: What about 3 for the PS2?

Nah, still Spidey 2.
It was okay though, shame the game was subpar.
@Elbarto17: I agree. I played Spidey 2 a week ago, and it's definitely the best Spidey game.

The webs are't attached to any buildings but it's still cool.
@fc_tsukihanami: Yeah.
Spider-Man 3 for PS3/Xbox 360. Worst Spider-Man video game out of the 3 Raimiverse games, but it had the fastest swinging, quickest change of direction around corners, and overall traversing

Spider-Man 2, and it's not even close.
The new one seems good, though.
Physics based.
I would heavily support the first claim, and heavily contest the second one.
The swinging might be physics-based, but it could just as easily be animation-based. It's too hard to tell for me because the arc seems right. But everytime he completes an arc he does this weird hang in mid air like he just stuck to a slippery imaginary platform.
It's a problem I have with the animation in general; even though the choreography is fantastic, he almost always has these weird start-stops after he completes an action (cutscenes excepted).
@strongtower7: Hell no, Spider-Man was slow as hell.
@g2_: I have to disagree with you. Plus, if you unlocked his maximum swing speed (I think it was swing speed 7) you could go up to 200 mph (there was even a speed calculator on the pause screen). I think my max speed was like 196 mph or something, it was so fun how fast you could go. I played this on PC, but I'm pretty sure it's the same on PS3/Xbox 360.
Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man. They both used the same engine, and the swinging was the same.
@thehulksmash: No the swingings were not the same.
@thehulksmash: No the swingings were not the same.
They were basically the same. Spider-Man 2 just had a feature to let you catapult, and USM had a feature to let you climb the web. They were the only 2 games where you could trace the webs to the exact part of the building that it would stick to.
@thehulksmash: Spider-Man also felt more lightweight in USM, and SM 2 makes a jump after every swing. The speed, the momentum, and the physics were also different. And SM 2's swinging was harder.
I haven't played every Spidey release, but I remember Spiderman 2 having satisfying swing physics. Looking forward to trying more games, so I appreciate the suggestions from this thread.
