Are you still boycotting Amazing Spider-Man because of "Brand New Day"? Are you aware of the current events in the comic? Do you still like Spider-Man?
Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17246 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
ASM #585, Still Hate Brand New Day?
still not over bnd yet but i will admit that i like this book alot i'd say it's in my top 5 favorites.....i wish romita jr was just the permenant artist for the book...i can't wait for the "american son" arc and to see what osborn has in store for spidey now that he's in charge
American son is going to be great. I love Spider-man right now.
This year, I think will ease over some of the haters: Important FF story, Spider-Man trying to be Spider-Man 24/7 when Osborn is in control and Vulture comes back, American son, Amazing #600, Return of Doc Ock, New revamps, and the Sinister 666. I'm excited.
Thats just the first half (save 666)!
If only they would've executed the OMD storyline better.
I didnt buy the 1st 3 comics of Brand New Day, but this then I toughed it out and Boy am I glad I did! This series has been WAY sweet lately! Full on Agreement for this Vid!
I didn´t start reading AMS because of BND but now I don´t read it because of money...... I mean 3 times a month is a lot!
Not really when you think that there used to be Amazing Spider-Man, Peter Parker, Spectacular Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man and so forth. All they've done is put those titles into one single title. It means more continuity. So instead of him fighting three different villains in three different stories at the same time, now we're following his life and adventures in a more realistic way. It always bothered me if he was fighting in New York in one title but then down in Flordia in another.

I only bought AMS
I´m poor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Amazing Spider-Man! My only complaint is how they bounce around with the creative team. Back when Straczynski was writing the book he had the ability to set up an issue a year down the line with events in a current book, now some of the stories seem a little random and not especially cohesive (though still pretty good stories.) With the exception of a very few stinkers, I think everything since OMD (can we stop calling everything Brand New Day yet?) Has been really quite good. I still do hope that the OMD storyline will pay-off as a setup to something amazing down the line, but until then, I'm still going to be a faithful follower of the Amazing Spider-Man.
BND is a cheap gimmic. They can 'shake things up', and then based upon what's a popular change or not, they can apply that to the ASM when they change back to the regular universe.

I realize it's a FRANCHISE, but Jimminy H. Christmas, can we mug and torture some editors so the creative staff can let loose on these titles? Thanks for letting me rant... I love Comic Vine!"
Its not a cheap gimmick when you are getting better quality stories than before (Back in Black and the Other -for me) at a 3 times a month pace.
"mnky2hvn said:There has yet to be a story that has been better than the work Straczynski did before OMD. We were getting Spider-Man three times a month then too. Amazing Spider-Man, Sensational Spider-Man, and Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man. They were all canon, and in my opinion all three were for te most part better than anything released in the Brand New Day yet. I hate the new thrice monthly Amazing Spider-Man, it seems like a cheap gimmick to get out big anniversary issues faster. They were better when they had three different books with three different creative teams working long term. If you ask me they should pick a writer at least (and an artist would be good too) and sign him/her/them to a long term deal and try to get some better cohession to the stories. I'm sick of the book bouncing around from team to team like a ping pong ball. Screw the brain trust, just give me one solid writer with a vision for the future."BND is a cheap gimmic. Friendly and Sensational lacked continutity and most of the stories were only okay. I completely understand why you don't like the artist change but oh well, they're all some of the best artists in the biz. Writing is great now that Bob Gale's gone as well. JMS made a totem which I hated and was poorly executed due to, well, it was a three title crossover. Now we can have a large event in two months with better continuity and flow. BND is a lot better for me.
I STILL hate BND. Why? because it was exactly what i was afraid it would be. Not SO bad. As in mediocre. Not substancial, no effort in the writting, no trascendental moments no... nothing.
I tought that this particular storyline (Character Assasination) was gonna be good, or better than the rest of them but... it wasn´t, at least for me.
The issue that just came out yesterday i bought it immediatly so i could found out how the hell did Lilly Hollister became Menace and i was, being honest, dissapointed.
It didn´t even make sense. Menace had appear way before New Ways to Die. According to issue 586, Lilly knew about the Osborn´s "secret lab" and to distract Peter from picking up the book that opened the door to it, she kissed him. After that she went to the lab and drank the goblin formula, a new one apparently and she became Menace. So how on earth did she fought Spidey BEFORE?. See? it doesn´t make sense!
WHAT ARE THEY THINKING!!!

Alright I reread it. She found the lab before New Ways to Die.
That was my point. I'm not happy with what happened. But the thing is, it did happen. It's over and done with. Spider-Man is still good and fun. I've been enjoying it.

"I'm still inadvertently boycotting spidey!"Me too. I only read about him in the Avengers books. Maybe I will read the Ultimate reboot.
The question is why boycott when it won't ever be back to what it was? Sure One More Day sucked but the guys on Amazing right now are turning in quality stuff so you're missing out on the fun.
still waiting until Jesus himself appears and put things right :P
(I mean Mephisto?? come on... weakest story line ever )
Haven't picked a spiderman issue up since Brand new day and I was reading spider-man since 1993 (I even read the clone-saga)
My spider-man fan heart burns everyday
Not really boycotting it (kinda like the Anti-venom thing. MAN Venom was the whole reason I started in 1993. Bagley made the perfect Venom in my opinion..) But for me the whole story line is burned up. Events now doesn't fit anymore with the events in the past .
Kinda bugs me. Really a shame though because they ended so strong with kicking the crap outta Kingpin.
Other reason for cutting my spending on comics is the finances. Money really is depleting. And I'm really not rich or even close.
(in Holland comics or strips like we call it isn't very populair.

I Actually like BND & I still like Spider-Man still, but I'm quite surprised that he has lost all of his new powers. Ever since he embraced the 'Other' I have grown quite interested with Peter's new abilities. He's twice as strong, has organic webbing, a stinger, & has night vision, however in the BND he lost these abilities. I am curious to know why he lost them, but I hope he can once again re-embrasd the 'Other' so that he can get his new abilities back.
There are bits I'm curious about such as how Harry is still alive and how come he doesn't remember the events before his suppose death. & I'm also curious if he would become the Green Goblin again, & if he did then will he be Spider-Man's enemy again or an ally.
Despite all that and the fact that he is no longer have any knowledge of his relationship with MJ, I still enjoyed the BND series. The story is really interesting and the artworks are fantastic, so basically I don't give a damn about it, & also they have a good reason for doing this series. I am curious to know who would be the new love interest for Peter, which I was thinkig it would be Carlie Cooper, but that won't happened.
Anyway I still enjoyed & I'm looking forward to more of this
I'm ok with the stories I read in current asm, I wish I could forget the OMD though, but they keep reminding me with the darn artificial webshooter. Although they said that Mephisto only erased the marriage, nothing more...but later we learned that he also deleted all spiders power upgrades, thats the thing bothering me.

Also they explained Harry's death. Apparently Mysterio faked Harry's death for Norman, and Harry was locked away for a number of years. In that period of time he got divorced, blah blah blah. The point is I think Harry being alive is lame, especially when his death was so epic and awesome. But up until one more day I was really interested in Spider-man and seeing where it was going to go. New Ways to Die seemed good, but besides that I am not really into BND, the writting does not look as good

I hate Brand new day because they maid venom forget who Spider-Man is and can't use the symbiote for him ... [more]
I did once and how can i deal with when they maid Venom forget and by the way i don't ... [more]
As a life long Spider-Man fan, I've been enjoying the stories. I've said it before, I'm not crazy about how we got here but it's still a fun ride.

Amen. This omnibus(s) is going to rock when its said and done.
@G-Man
Will you review a Spider-Man Dark Reign issue? I think they've been great.
"Miss out then. "

"I hate One More Day and Brand New Day. I will never read another Spider-Man comic again unless they undo One More Day and restore Peter Parker's marriage. I've also dropped 18-20 other books I was buying monthly. "Just to toss in my two cents, I'll say that a person isn't missing out...if they don't buy what they nolonger enjoy. BND took a big, messy dump on my love of the character (kind of like the whole, endless Crisis nonsense over at DC) and - after the clones, the many deaths of Aunt May, the endless Kraven rip-offs, the stupid return of Norman Osbourn - I just can't keep reading. It'll get better again...for awhile...then BOOM, and it'll all start to suck again.
I've decided to just back off, and focus on a handful of books that DON'T have such a long history of spitting in my face, again and again.
And remember, if enough people complain about it...BND might just be reversed. It could happen. Look at the rest of that list. They'll do ANYTHING to Spiderman if they think it'll generate a few extra bucks...
