    Nothing Here to Die For

The title of this digital one-shot may be A Meal to Die For, but in the actual content of this story, there is nothing "to die for." Right from the onset, I was not expecting anything special from this one-shot. A comic featuring the Top Chef...how good could it possibly be? The only reason I read it was because it was free on my Marvel App and I wanted something to read in class out of boredom. Sure, it did what it was supposed to and got me through class, but there was nothing more to it. In fact, it was quite disappointing.

    The Good

Well, like I said, it's a free digital comic. That's about the only good aspect of it. At least you don't have to waste your money on this. I will say that I had no issue with the artwork, however I wouldn't say it was anything noteworthy.

    The Bad

It's a lame, generic story that was made simply for the sake of featuring the Top Chef, not for any actual merit. There was no real thought put into it, they just wanted to make a simple story to feature this guy in a comic. The most upsetting part of this one-shot was the utter disappointment from Mysterio. Mysterio has never really ranked among Spidey's top tier of rogues, however he's not a pathetic drop in the bucket either. Personally, I have a rather strong likeness for Mysterio, particularly after reading Daredevil: Guardian Devil. That story really made Mysterio shine as a villain, while this one-shot was a disgrace to his name and a poor display of his wickedness. He was portrayed like a pathetic street-level criminal. Aside from this debauchery, the story itself is overall pretty stale.

    Overall

Don't delve into Spider-Man: A Meal to Die For expecting an interesting plot or anything special. If you're simply bored and want to kill some time, then you might as well give it a read, seeing as how it's free. Just be prepared to accept it for what it is; a simple, bland digital one-shot and a very mediocre read.
