Heavy On The Action
A very action heavy issue this is, which isn't that bad. I love watching Miguel in action. He has this smooth but vicious fighting style. It’s so much different from Peter’s style. Peter David writes the character well. His inner monologues aren’t boring but a quality character study. Miguel gets some pretty nice quips in this issue. The story continues as fresh out of the Spider-Verse he comes back to his world and it’s been destroyed. He’s been taking captive by Maestro (200 year old Hulk). Also locked up with him is Strange 2099. They happen to break out and a few cool action scenes unfold. Her character was just there to push the story forward. There’s a twist near the end that was telegraphed from the opening of this issue. At least I saw it coming. I did enjoy the hall of memorabilia that Maestro has. It’s an ode to (in their world) to a Marvel universe that has past. I enjoyed the this issue for the most part. I could have done without the the “twist” because everything seemed way too easy. I don’t know how you write that better or more thrilling.
